Is HRG Good?

Any person who can heartfeltly say "I've done things I'm not proud of." Has a little good in them, but is more or less a bad guy. HRG acts like a villain for good reason, he does villainous things, even if he is motivated by making the world a better place or saving his daughter, when you go around killing people and destroying lives to do it, you kinda set yourself up as a villain.

Also, keep in mind it really doesn't matter anymore. HRG could have the best intentions ever, but he works for someone, he has higher ups and he takes orders to do what they say, whether he likes it or not.

"There is a very high turnover in my line of business."
Any thoughts on what he meant when he said this?

he's much like Wolverine in that his intentions are good, but he has no limitations or inhibitors or any sense of a "moral" line that he shouldn't cross

Of every Marvel character in that comic universe you could have chosen. Wolverine is one of the worst examples to compare to Mr. Bennet.

No, he's much more like Lex Luthor. He wants to make the world a better place, but is willing to go to any lengths to do so.

There are also the questions: "A better place for who?" and "Who decides what is good or bad?"

True, but he wants to save a world where HE runs/owns/controls most things...

I jsut don't see Mr. Bennett being that power hungry...but I do very much see you point. Frankly, I see him taking on a sort of "Prof. X" role when/if the heroes ever band together

You don't see him as power hungry?

Does the fact that any variable he cannot control, he has mind wiped; including his own family? That is the very essence of power/control issues.

I still endorse it. :)

They die or they don't have the stomach to do what needs to be done.

A fun question for anyone who takes a hardline on him being a villain.

To what measures would you go to insure your family and loved ones were to remain protected?

If all of your lives was the price to keep my kin and loved ones alive and safe, I don't doubt for an instant that I'd spend you all.

At the same time if you had one purpose in life that gave you meaning and reason for existing, would you easily let that go?

I think the recent graphic novel firmly established him as a good guy.

^^^ I just read it myself and it seems like he's a good guy from that but I still think he has other things up his sleeve.

he was on the phone with someone last night, seemed as is he was talking to a higher up authority, possibly Linderman?

It was most definitely Lindermann...hmm...but is he good...I'm gonna repeat this again...I think he has different motives and ofcourse answers to higher powers...but, overall...Mohinder will lead the good team...and HRG will lead the unconventional other team...like Avengers and Westcoast Avengers...X-men, and The Uncanny X-men. You get the idea...either that, or eventually he and Mohinder are gonna have to agree to some terms on who and how to manage the teams...if those teams do indeed become Red and Blue.

I highly doubt it was Linderman. Linderman is a mobster. HRG appears to be working in a secret government organization. He was talking to his higher ups.

It might have been Linderman. Think back to the hotel incident with Nathan and Niki/Jessica. It was Linderman that was having them recorded having “relations” (he tried to bribe Nathan but he flipped it and got 4 million out of Linderman and before that part happened it was HRG and that came into the room and took Nathan). Coincidental?

I agree. pretty "coincidental" that HRG shows up in Vegas the same time that Nathan's there, gets in Linderman's casino, and waltzes right in a secure room set up by Linderman to entrap Nathan, and kidnaps Nathan...with no regard for security cameras.

there are no coincidences in this show.

I watched the last episode. All I have to say is that he is very slick.

More later.
