Does Jonn Jonzz seem a little weak to anyone else??

I mean....this is the second fight I've seen him in and both times he's on his knees with a knife at his throat?????

He's being over powered??? The Martian Manhunter??? Plus how are they even getting a hand on him????

He can go intangible...........his strength is easily the equal of the Kryptonian he was fighting!!

Geez!! :cmad:

I'm thinking you mean "shaft"????

So that's a yes??? lol

I'll fix it, and as far as the Martian Manhunter, myself like most watching this series probably know very little about him, so we wouldn't know the difference. I have a feeling that we will be seeing more and more of his strengths.....and we have to remember that the more he uses his powers the more likely those millions of White Martians running around will come their way. AND.....the first knife at the throat was his own doing, as in, sacrifice. Who knows, he could have very easily gotten away from Astra, but Alex stabbed her before he did....

My problem in that particular episode was the slowness of the fight choreography when they (Astra and Jonn) first fight each other. It looked like he could barely move, and it really took me out of the scene. It was very obvious that the outfit he was in was very cumbersome and not made to move.

The perennial criticism of Superman (and by extension, Supergirl) is that he’s too powerful - therefore, boring. Thus, over the years and decades, he’s been de-powered to varying degrees.

Yet, consult any reference on MM and you’ll find a long list of astonishing abilities that puts Superman to shame. But then… this repeats the exact same problem: too powerful, therefore boring. Seems to me, Supergirl did right by dialing things back a bit. Besides, it’s her show. When MM gets his own show, he can be the most powerful. :word:

Exactly what I was thinking, which is why I didn't let it bother me at all. We'll see more impressive feats & showings from MM over the course of the series...he doesn't have to start off doing the insane.

Besides, if they did over-power him they would be writing themselves into a corner and opening themselves up to a bunch of "if MM is so strong why doesn't he just end every fight for SG" questions. They made the right choice, imo.

His arc isn't complete any more than Kara's is at this point. He's been acting for the most part as a normal government agent who utilizes technology and tactics to capture aliens, not using his powers to fight supervillains in hand to hand combat. He's at the beginning of his journey just like she is.

Staff? :funny:

Well it's obvious you mean shaft but I don't think so. Sure he's not as powerful as he is in the comics but that's for the best cause if you think about it an all powerful MM is pretty much unstoppable without a flame to halt him.

Although let's not forget that he isn't using his powers much so maybe because he's suppressing them so much his power level is low.

Personally, I noticed this in the episode and was glad. I like the idea that Kryptonians are stronger than Martians simply because Martians have a lot of other cool abilities besides strength. It always bothered me that he was essentially like Superman but better.

Until someone lights a match. :cwink:

Great points..........It was very slow....

I think in the cinematic universe Martian manhunter is really general swanwick :)

Nah. He's fine. You don't really want to just storm audiences with Jonzz's powers. It's a Supergirl show after all. So far his powers have been mostly well used.

Any complaint I'd have about him being nerfed is more than balanced by my shock that we are getting even half as good a J'onn J'onnz, at all. He deserves better quality writing, but hell, that describes half the cast of the show.

Still not as weak as he was on JL/JLU cartoon. :o
