I think so! I mean do you think it's because of screwups like Elektra, Hulk, Ghost Rider, X-Men 3, Fantastic Four, Blade 3 etc. that Marvel stopped licensing their products to other studios and decided to make their own studio and be in control of their live-action film/television properties and be their own executives, make their own decisions and such things?

Considering what the company is worth now versus what it was worth 15 years ago, at least from a business perspective it is the greatest thing they have ever done.

YES

That and firing Avi Arad who is partially responsible to those screw-ups

well there was Stan starting the Marvel Age obviously.
but yes, Stan creating the universe and Kevin creating the MCU are pretty much their greatest things they've ever done

I'd agree in saying the MCU is the greatest thing to happen since Stan Lee. The last few years have been a great source of entertainment and watching the MCU unfold has been amazing!

Marvel was just in a better position to start creating and producing their own films. Not to mention this was about having greater creative control over their own characters, reaping greater financial revenue, and ultimately making a shared universe which could never happen with all the characters licensed to various studios. They had the core members of the Avengers and decided to start there. It was a brilliant plan to say the least after the disastrous bankruptcy that put them behind the 8 ball in the first place.

I have much more fun with the MCU than most of the current Marvel comics, so yeah.

Sadly I have to agree with you. Ever since Bendis took the 616 hostage, the number of comic books I enjoy shrank down to a very small number. That said, Slott is always a good read, Hawkeye was an amazing series (and so was Journey Into Mystery) and I'm just catching up with Hickman's New Avengers books that are somehow miles ahead of Hickman's Avengers books so there still are sparkling gems in the mold that is the Bendisverse nowadays

I will also like to add Mark Waids Daredevil run. And kamala Khan Ms Marvel series is pretty damn good too.

I agree. Haven't read Daredevil yet, but Kamala Khan is fun to read

Yeah there have been some good comics of course but we are getting less and less of them by the years.

Yes. The idea of a massive shared universe of live-action CBM's was a pipe dream until Marvel had the balls to give it a shot.

Yes. It is the first time heroes share the same world on movies, and it's being well done so far. They just need to keep the ideas coming.

Could really say selling off/licensing the properties away was the best thing Marvel ever did. Without that happening we probably would've never got the MCU and hypothetically Marvel could have gone under

It's no doubt one of their top achievements of all time. It's a huge part of this being the golden age of superhero movies.

But in that case you can't stop there, you have to pick the event that made the licenses worth buying, and then the event that in turn made that possible, and so on.

I'd have to say the MCU is the best thing Marvel has done in many years, sure. Not only has the quality been good, but it's also had a massive impact on the film industry. Hopefully they can do something to revolutionize the quality level of Marvel video game adaptations next. Working with Telltale could be a great start, so we'll see how that goes.

MCU is the best thing since flicking two stones together to create fire.

I have to agree that the answer is yes. When everybody wants the other studios ( Fox and Sony) to give back the rights then I think you have a clear winner. Can you imagine a Marvel produced FF and X Men?
