Is Marvel studios the best thing Marvel did in a long time?

I was heavily into Spider-Man comics but stopped reading those a long time ago since they went downhill and into weirder and weirder places with spider totems and **** like that. I've enjoyed individual issues since, not only Spider-Man but also Captain America etc. written by the likes of Mark Waid, but overall I've lost interest in reading the comics. I've always loved Marvel, but mostly thanks to the past rather than the present.

The MCU has reminded me of why I love these characters. When we have had very sad years for Marvel comic books now for a long time, the MCU couldn't happen at a better time for me as a Marvel fan. Same goes for the quality Marvel comics based films overall like the X-Men films and Raimi's first two Spider-Man films. Also, TSSM. So yeah, the MCU is definitely the best thing Marvel has done in a long time.

Fox is doing great with X-Men with 1, 2, The Wolverine and X-Men FC/DOFP but did bad with X-Men Origins Wolverine and X3. Sony did good on the first 2 SM movies but went downhill with 3. I think Marvel will do good on Spider-Man. Daredevil in it's R-rated extended director's cut is far better than the PG-13 hackjob. Warner/New Line did good on Blade 1 & 2.

And do you agree some of the other licensed to other studio films like Hulk, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, Ghost Rider, Blade 3, Elektra etc. were crap? and you glad Marvel Studios are in better control of their properties then ever and doing the decisions and being their own executives without that damned Ari?

I'd say yes. I grew up reading comics and then like most people stopped when I hit a certain age. The MCU has rekindled my love of these characters and I've rediscovered the joy of the fantasy and escapism. Prior to the MCU's inception I found CBMs a fun curiosity but now I actively follow its developments and I've even started reading comics again. Not to mention I feel that the success of the MCU has forced other companies - i.e. Fox and WB - to up their game. So it's a win-win for fans all around I think - even if you hate the MCU.
