Yeah I'm a sheep because I don't steal other peoples property. And the major studios, directors, grips, stuntment, producers, and actors are the equivelant of Hitler and his Reign of Terror. Yeah that makes sense. You come across like the typical college student who has no experience in life whatsoever, has no responsibilities, and has yet to actually earn a living to make him/herself independent. If you made one of these films or invested money you wouldn't be so happy about people stealing it. It's considering "THEFT" across the Globe. It's a Universal acceptance that stealing is wrong. I'm done with you. Ignored.

Damn, you're wrong on all accounts. I'm not some college student who has no life experience what so ever. And I wasn't really referring to pirating movies. I'm one hundred percent OK with doing it to music. The same restrictions aren't on those anyways. Movies are, I try to avoid doing that as much as I can. The closest I go to pirating movies tv-links.co.uk and that site's legal. I think it's harsh to put kids in prison though because they downloaded a ****ing movie though. That being said you still need to get over yourself.

Yes, because the law is flawless and infallible. :whatever:

There are many laws out there that are flawed....thats kind of a duh.....but they are still the law......take it to court......change it that way.....

You break it.....you get caught.....you pay. Pretty simple.

In answer to the original question....

Is Piracy right?.....

no

When I was a kid, I took some crayons and a coloring book at the "5 and dime" store down the street.....my mom made me take the stuff back to the manager, and give it back....the manager tried to go ahead and let me keep it....my mom said no, she has to learn the lesson that you don't pay for something, its not yours to take........I learned my lesson........I guess some haven't.

If I make a movie or an album or a videogame, then I might care.

Until then, I'll continue to download music, roms, and the episodes of Family Guy that I missed because of work, so's I can get caught up for the next season even though I'll buy the DVD set when it comes out.

If you've got a different opinion then fine, but don't talk down to me.

Coz you aren't talking down to others. :whatever:

im reminded of a GREAT cinematic achievement in the mid 1990's called HACKERS....

HACK THE PLANET!!!!!!!

that reminds me... i need to download that....

on a lighter note, im sure none of you slapping your constitutions and yelling about laws being right and wrong have ever sped in your cars have you? or by god... did you smoke a cigarette or drink a beer underage?

im not going to these peoples ENORMOUS houses and stealing from their personal collection of dvds/cds, im simply sharing with other people online who do not have the money to go to every movie we want to see, or buy every cd we want to hear. and aside from popular belief, streaming radio does not have everything i want to hear. and by the way, most true artists do it for the fans, not the paycheck.

so i end with what i began with...

HACK THE PLANET!!

Thats all fine, but the people you think are being hurt by this....are not the people being hurt.....its the people much further down the line.

I have family in Tennessee that that work for one of the largest reproduction and distribution centers for CD's, DVD's etc.....many have been working there for decades.......these places are being downsized at an enormous rate....people being laid off.....and one of the biggest reason is piracy.....the people that work on the sets of movies are being laid off....not the producers, not the directors, not the actors....but the people on down the line......the people that aren't making the millions....that is who it is hurting.....so we may need to remember them as well....

It's not that I'm offended, just seems a little condescending.

Oh....well actually I wasn't speaking of you, on a personal level (it was just your post that I last read to make the quote) when I made that statement...I was speaking of the masses....

OK, I see.

Exactly. At the same time no the big studios won't be ruined in general...but it's still stealing. You could walk into some Mansion in Beverly Hills and steal their car. Will they be ruined or bankrupted? Nope. It still not right. It's stealing. A thief is a thief.

Actually you're simply a thief if what you say is true. That's the definition of thief. Stealing something that does not belong to you whether it's tangible or not.

OF course it's wrong. How would you feel if you worked your ass off on something only to have it stolen.

If you're stupid enough to do it, well, say hi to the FBI for me.

piracy is right, those people get payed WAY too much anyway.

They worked hard to get paid that money and they also invested and risked their money and time as well. It's stealing. I guess it's easier for you to steal than actually be productive and create something yourself. That's why people who do this are usually the ones working at Walmart of Burger King, or landscaping lawns till their 50. Blaming society for everything and screaming at oil companies for making too much profit. LOL

I don't drive so don't speed. I've never smoked so never smoked under age. I never used to drink underage either.

You may as well be going into the houses and stealing from their personal collection. It's the same after all.

funny, i actually pay to see movies, but i can see why people would do that.

Compared to some of the things in the world that are major deals (the war in Iraq, global warming, getting alternative fuel sources that don't pollute as much, getting the cluster**** called the U.S. immigration straightened out, finding a solution to healthcare in the U.S. that is better than HMO's), illegal downloading on the internet is the equivalent of the cat in the tree. It's a nice thing to do for that kid, but if the firetruck gets called out to put out a fire, the fuzzball can stay in the damn tree.
