I dont think he looks like Tony Stark. But I guess its better than Tom Cruise.

Great choice. Period. This is Marvel protecting their first studio film. They're going for the best choices on all sides.

thats a little scary looking
I voted "too early to tell"
In the end it all depends on what version of Stark they are going for in the script.

I voted yes coz I like him as an actor, but I nearly voted too early to tell

he's an excellent actor, i am completely confident he can deliver a fantastic performance as Tony Stark.

my worry is his appearance, Tony Stark is supposed to have thos debonair look. its hard to see that in Downey even in his best photos. lets hope the make-up department can prove me wrong.

This makes me smile. I'm rather happy now.

He not only IS older than crap, he LOOKS every day of his age thanks to hard livin'. Not much sequel potential with a guy this old, and he also has never come off as a suave, debonair dude. Nope, this is 12 kinds of bad. They needed a handsome fella in his early 30s or thereabouts, a guy who oozes charisma. Downey has zero of those traits - apparently he was chosen simply because he has a history of substance abuse. Terrible choice.

He's around 40, about the age Tony Stark is portrayed as being.

Wow, he looks older than that. That's what you get for shooting smack half your days. And Tony is 40 in the movie? That seems pretty damn unwise. Should've started him at the beginning of his career so he can age along with the (potential) franchise.

Tom Cruise would have been a better choice. This guy just look too unfit and old to be IM

I dunno. Downey's a great actor and all, I'm not worried there. He just doesn't seem like Tony Stark to me. This one came way out of left field for me, so I'm not sure. He could very well pull it off, but my gut reaction is "Wha?"

I would have supported Tom cruise but he was at the bottom...the very bottom of the list in my head. Wahlberg was #1 for me and I realize most people didn't like that one at all. Downey was #2 and I thought he had a better chance of getting it which is why I started that thread last year that I touted before since I'm a genius. ;)

i did not vote "no".......

theres some sort of mistake!......

let it be known i vote yes!

I was pulling for Mark Ruffalo, but Downey's an interesting choice. That real-life drug experience is gonna make for some serious old school method acting!(yeah, that's a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang reference)

Awesome choice. I'm ****in' happy like a pig in ****. Go Favreau go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Favreau says no alcoholism in the first movie. Maybe in the sequel.

So before he gets to any method acting, he'll have to make the first film a hit and then not die of an overdose in the interim. ;)

Oh man, I'm gonna be making heroin-related jokes for the next TWO YEARS.

and i will laugh at none:whatever:

I'm glad. Downey Jr is an agreeable choice. I like him as an actor ever since I first watched him in Heart and Souls.
