Is the USA a pseudo-fascist state? (Police constantly abusing people)

There are reasons why people should care about the government spying on everyone without warrants.

1) Yes they don't care about your porn habits but what about your political activism and grassroots organizing? Without public oversight or the requirement for warrants how can you be sure you're not being spied on to derail your political or social impact.

2) Sure, you have total faith in our current leadership but what if more nefarious leaders attain control of spy agencies? You have set the precedent where these people can spy on you regardless of intention.

The fact that this thread exists yet the erectile dysfunction thread got deleted angers me to no end :o
At the very least this one should be moved off to the politics forum where it belongs.

Yeah it should. Why did the ED get canned? Thats a serious medical issue men face. Did it just spiral into sexual innuendo's and potty mouth humor?

I think there as some sensitivity issues over it. It's not like there aren't jokes of that kind scattered all over the forums. Maybe being in a concentrated form was too much.

Felt bad for the kid. We've all been there in some form or other. But when it gets into your head its the worst. I hope he found the help he needed. He seemed really frustrated and it came out in every post he made.

Back onto the topic! America's going to hell!

If you're an extremist on either side (Conservative or Liberal) we're already in hell. The rest of us in the middle just wish those two would actually go somewhere else and fight it out.

We should make an island for extremists to duke it out to the death. We round them up like ****ing Hunger Games once a year peoples names are pulled out of the hat from both radical sides.

Well you fence sitters should be sent to an alternate universe where no progress was made from political activism.

You'll probably be stuck building endless pyramids for some guy claiming to be a sun god.

lol. Yeah as we can see already......both the Democrats and Republicans have such a long history of coming together and making decisions to better the people.

Radicals (in any form on any topic): I believe you, as long as what you believe is the same as me.

I wish I lived in a world where you didn't have to fight to defend civil liberties but that's not reality.

You either fight for your rights or risk losing them forever.

Political apathy isn't a sensible position when there are others who want to strip away your constitutional rights.

Yeah it sucks. Humans are a ****** ****** species.

And you are exactly the problem. Anyone who doesn't take a side, or worse, takes the opposite side, is sitting on a fence. There is no middle ground for your kind of thinking. There is no moderate progress forward. It's determined by whatever your political leaning is. Either for us or against us, never compromise in the middle and find a better way to move the country forward. The all or none mentality is exactly why this country is going nowhere. Not because of people like me, but because of people like you.

It's funny how people that believe in conspiracy theories call other people "sheeple" and question those that don't agree with their world view's character and intelligenceoften while believing EVERY outlandish idea under the sun, even the ones that contradict each other, all while demonbizing everybody else as "asleep tools of the FILL IN THE BLANK", which most often happen to be whatever group they happen to have a bug up their ass about, whether it's jews, blacks, Hispanics, homosexuals, the bankers, the lawyers, the feminists, the Democrats, the Republicans, the business elites, the college professors, the Hollywood stars, the Catholic church, the Lizard people....

It's FREAKING HILARIOUS!! :whatever:

I dunno if you're talking about me but I've never done that here. I did believe the government was spying on us way before it came out though. Crap like Illuminati is just used to keep the attention away from the real criminals.

History proves you wrong.

There have always been those who decided to sit out battles whether it was abolition, America's independence, defeating Hitler, civil rights, labor protest, women's lib, environmentalism, gay rights, etc and they did nothing to advance those causes.

The people who advance rights and freedoms were the passionate activist not those who didn't care. Obviously.

Your problem is you don't believe either side is fighting for something good so they must both be bad and part of the problem.

Believe it or not some things are worth fighting for and putting your head in the sand won't help anything.

Any compromise comes after a fight.

If you don't fight the middle ground will be further away from your principles.

Teelie what are some examples of "moderate progress forward" and how is it achieved?

How does a moderate approach defeat an opposing side who is extreme and committed to their cause?

You've completely missed the point, as usual. In your mind, anyone who isn't on an extreme side is sitting it out, doing nothing, accomplishing nothing. All you can see is the extremist point of view. You can't comprehend that those in the middle of an debate might have something to contribute, might be able to push ahead. It's only the drastic resolution you can see.

Nothing I point out ever has or ever will change your mind. You shift the goal posts every time I've shown why I stated something. Why would you change now?

Hence, the problem. Your views are the uncompromising, unwilling to change, unable to accept alternate points of view and that's why I have nothing to gain from debating with you.

@MessiahDecoy So if you don't pick a side it means you don't care?

That's what I'm gathering from him in a nutshell. Either you're all for one or the other or you're for nothing and your opinion means nothing.

I'm arguing against apathy, inaction and neutrality, not against those with less extreme views.

Maybe you misunderstood.

and there's a difference between a fringe belief system and being passionate about a reasonable principle. The latter is not extremism.

Nope, I understood clearly. You responded anyone who doesn't want to take an extreme position on something is doing nothing but being apathetic and inactive.

I think police brutality is the least of our problems. The biggest issue is that we have a bloated government with far too much power...and that power over us is increasing quite quickly. Privacy is almost non-existant and our other freedoms are slowly being stripped. Not all at once mind you...just little pieces being chipped away. I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all...but even I can see the road we are headed down.
