Is there anything in life more important than owning the latest iPhone?

Compared to the insanity when the 5 launched, this seems rather subdued.

Probably because the iPhone is now just another smart phone, and not the smart phone anymore.

The 6 is really just an attempt to keep girls who have iPhones from getting Samsungs.

The iPhone 6 is actually selling in higher numbers than any previous model by a lot.

I'm starting to have some issues with my phone. I may have to do a format and reload everything to see if that fixes it. If not then I may sell it and buy a new one. I'll probably stick with the Android Galaxy versions though.

Apple have planned obsolescence down to a timed science, as do the Android companies.

I think Brand loyalty is reasonable.

For example, I'm extremely loyal to Netflix because they offered a superior alternative to blockbusters when no one else would. To this day, I'll stick with them through thick and thin.

But the early adopter thing makes less sense to me. It seems like a blatant status symbol thing which is kind of sad.

There is no such thing as blockbuster anymore lol

They still have blockbuster video stores here in Australia.

Trying to protect any / all of your Linux / Unix / Mac devices from the latest Bash bug.

I have had a second hand iPhone 3G for the past 4 years. The wi-fi on it broke over a year of having it, meaning I couldn't browse the internet without using my mobile data (which was incredibly slow). The home button broke not long after too and occasionally gets stuck, meaning that if I want to exit an application and the home button won't let me, I have to turn the phone off and then on.

When I hear people saying they need a new phone after owning theirs for like a year (which may be in perfectly good condition) I really want to pull my hair out. My old iPhone is still going and getting use to this very day. I'm not getting a new one until it's run its course and will no longer switch on or let me call or text people. Sure, I have a 5th gen iPod Touch (which is still on iOS 6, I refuse to update) which I use for Wi-Fi, music and apps and essentially opts as an iPhone but without the ability to make calls and message people without a wi-fi connection somewhere. It makes me sad though when people hype over things like phones when there are much more important things in life and it's terrible that people end up paying an arm and a leg for such products too, especially when they end up being disappointed in the end (bendy iPhone thing, iOS 8 running slow etc.).

The 5S is my first iPhone. It works wonderfully. I've had Android phones in the past and I don't need that much customization if it's going to sacrifice dependability and robustness. The iPhone is simple, dependable and extremely user friendly and that is what I value over customization.

All that being said, I do not like the way the newer iPhones look. I don't like the profile of the phones with the smooth edges. If they had gone with a flat edge like on the iPhone 4/5/s, I think Bendgate wouldn't have been as much of an issue as it is now.

Size, I have an iPad... I use that at home or when I'm on a trip for anything I need a larger screen for so the size of the 5S is just fine for me. I don't want to sacrifice pocket space for a bigger screen which I don't really need.

I'll hold onto my 5S until it no longer works or until a better iPhone comes out.

Guys what happened to new Iphone 6, is that true that they got some serious bending problems or it just rumers to spoile its market? i wanna buy it but some news and viral images got me screwed.

Its the same thing as the waterproofing last time and being able to dry it from water damage in a microwave, just trying to get people to destroy their phones for lolz.

I realize the finger recognition thing was actually introduced with the 5S, but this has to be the coolest thing since... hell I don't know - car clickers?

I love this phone.

Though it does make me wonder how long before phones start to come with an eye scanner. That would be cool.

An iris scanner should be feasible, no?

I love my 5S, but I wanna see one of these 6 Pluses in person.

Well I have an iPhone 6 (4.7 inch) 64 GB storage and I like it. I had an iPhone 6 Plus but I chose the wrong storage size (16 GB) and ended up returning it. I loved the bigger screen but it was a BEAST to carry around in my pocket and I like to one hand text so it was nearly impossible to do with that 5.5 inch screen and I have BIG hands.

I was there launch day and it wasn't that bad at my local apple store. The iPhone 4 launch in 2010 was the most MASSIVE line I have ever been in for any product. I stood in line for 12 hours to get the phone. It was fun and I made friends, and apple actually fed us breakfast, lunch AND dinner while waiting in line all day lol. However, I am not one of the extreme Apple fans that buy the newest iPhone every year, and spend like 600-1,000 dollars on a phone. That's a little extreme for me. My limit for a phone is 200 dollars but I made the exception this year and got the iPhone 6 64 GB for 300. But anything more than dumb to me for a phone.

I don't own a smartphone at all. I probably will someday. But I honestly couldn't see myself running out to buy a new upgrade as soon as it launched

Yep. I JUST got a smartphone a couple months ago, and that's only because I needed one to use the cardreader I have for potential sales of my comic. It's not an iPhone, though. I'd never spend that much $$$ on a got damn cellphone...
