I have had a second hand iPhone 3G for the past 4 years. The wi-fi on it broke over a year of having it, meaning I couldn't browse the internet without using my mobile data (which was incredibly slow). The home button broke not long after too and occasionally gets stuck, meaning that if I want to exit an application and the home button won't let me, I have to turn the phone off and then on.
When I hear people saying they need a new phone after owning theirs for like a year (which may be in perfectly good condition) I really want to pull my hair out. My old iPhone is still going and getting use to this very day. I'm not getting a new one until it's run its course and will no longer switch on or let me call or text people. Sure, I have a 5th gen iPod Touch (which is still on iOS 6, I refuse to update) which I use for Wi-Fi, music and apps and essentially opts as an iPhone but without the ability to make calls and message people without a wi-fi connection somewhere. It makes me sad though when people hype over things like phones when there are much more important things in life and it's terrible that people end up paying an arm and a leg for such products too, especially when they end up being disappointed in the end (bendy iPhone thing, iOS 8 running slow etc.).
