In the past there were several experiments of Italian writer and artists on Spider-Man and other marvel characters.
But now a very good selling weekly comic-book magazine "Il Giornalino", a magazine that used to be sold in churches mostly, is going to publish a weekly series of Spidey stories in 8-10 pages installment, done by Italian guys (Stefano Vietti as a writer, Giancarlo Olivares pencils, Marco Cecchetto doing pencils, colors and some cover art).
The people at Panini Comics/Marvel Italy will supervise the stories.

I believe the artist who painted the newer "Secret War" mini series was also Italian, really great stuff in those books too. I can't find any images right now, but the art was some of the best I had seen in a while.

Somehow and somewhere along the line, I picked up a copy of the Italian Museum edition of Ultimate Spider-Man #1

I was looking through old comics the other day, came across it and was like, 'where the hell did this come from!?'

Whoa! Wouldn't mind seeing that guy on a mainstream Spidey book one day. He's got a very dynamic style and definitely superior to a lot of other artists who have been fortunate enough to get a crack at one of Spidey's main books.

Nice art.

May-be they'll branch out beyond Italy. These days an artist anywhere in the world can do a title... Deodato, for example, works in Brazil.

Really? Huh. I assumed he was American. :o

Marvel is really going international with its search for talent. The art Antonello showed was pretty darn cool. Italian artists=. Anyone remember Spider-Man: India? I liked it. It was a interesting spin on Spidey.

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Must... have... Electro... issue...

I don't know if it will be published in the USA. It has a strange continuity. It's set in a period when Peter was still single and living with Aunt May.
And as we're talking of European people working on Marvel characters, you should beg Marvel to publish the "Wolverine Saudade" GN in the USA. It's by two really good French guys (Jean-David Morvan & Philippe Buchet) and it's a great read. The art may look a bit strange to some of you, but it's a realistic, violent, and moving story.

I was being sarcastic. :o

I always had a soft spot for Ed Benes (Brazilian, isn't he?), myself. At least until his JLA arc. :(

I got that. I just used your post to give some recognition to those guys.

I like his panel composition, but being from the Jim Lee school of drawing he makes all the women look as Pamela Anderson and all the men as John Cena.

Loved the art!Italy's been producing some fantastic artists:spidey:

This looks really good! I hope this guy branches out into American comics sometime!
