Comics August 2008 Spider-Man Solicitations

I think they should just make the venom symbiote its own indepedent sentient being without having to bond with anybody. That would be interesting.

While I don't disagree with you on this point, there appears to be an awful LOT of Eddie Brock fans out there that would disagree with you.

Ok........besides the fact the JRJR will be drawing Spidey again...(and Spider-Girl).....there isn't too much of anything exciting here.

Still holding out for my favorite hero to be fixed.

:wow:

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!
Amazing Spider-Man looks great, and Zeb Wells (Spidey's best current writer) is doing a limited series on Venom! AND Spider-Man lvoes Mary Jane is back! YAAAAAY!!!!

First of all, Venom has lost any and all "interesting" factors a long time ago...

I agree, I meant when he "used" to be interesting... :o

And maybe, just maybe, you're assuming that it's yet another lame symbiote story when it could all be a ressurection (of sorts) of Eddie Brock becoming a force to be reckoned with as he once was in the Marvel Universe.

I thought Slott already made it clear that this is a new villain/hero? Did I mis-read something?

Or maybe that would be seen as "lame" in your eyes as well... :oldrazz:

:yay:

It would. I like Venom's design... Great characters being re-vamped don't work 9 times out of 10. I'm talking about the design, not necessarily the character's personality. Of course digging deeper and evolving characters can be awesome, (not regressing them back to the 70's.. cough...) but redesigning them altogether appearance-wise is pretty hit or miss. I just thought Mr. Negative filled the "opposite color" void in the Marvel Universe already. :p

Now now, I'm actually keen on Gargan as Venom, a little, and while I strongly prefer Eddie as Venom, having Spider-Man's villain be just an alien organism...hmm...what would it do as a villain? Without any human host?

Venom may or may not be Eddie Brock, but at least have the symbiote have a human host. I just feel that Venom has to be a symbiote joined with a physical adversary. The symbiote does need to be joined with something to feed on, and as a villain, I just don't see living slime by itself as a recurring foe.

But if you think about it, the human host has always been the symbiote's weakness. If it were by itself, it could just cut loose and be a pure evil monster. And it doesnt have to be a big pile of slime, i think by now, the symbiote has evolved enough to form its own human-like shape if it wants to. All i'm saying is keep venom the way he is, but this time without any human host, just a pure unleashed monster. That would be cool, in my opinion.

And Spidey's Brand New Day will be changed forever

Yes! Finally! About time that something in the world of Spider-Man is "changed forever"

What could they possibly change now? Are we gonna find out that Uncle Ben's been alive all this time and secretly hiding in Aunt May's basement??

Awesome line up. I just hope Venom Dark Origins brings something fresh and meaningful to the table.

Aloha,
Well we've had a female Dr. Octopus, so a female Kraven is par for the course.
Spidey rules with sexual equality

A female Kraven? *imagines the costume* Thats pretty hot. :woot:

Then again, a female Kraven has been done, too. House of Recycled Ideas, indeed.

AHHHH HAAAA! I knew there was another Kraven-esque character Spidey has had as a villain! Kraven, the Grim Hunter, Calypso, and Kraven, Jr.!

Written by ZEB WELLS

But is it as simple as that? Discover the true, twisted roots that gave rise to a lifetime of malevolence for Eddie Brock…AND the symbiote! Writer Zeb Wells (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) and artist Angel Medina (SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN) shed a little light on one of Marvel's darkest monsters!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

This would be cool if they do it similar to Doctor Octopus: Year One. Gather up all of the stories that relate to his origin and make one cohesive story. Hard to do with all of the differing Venom stories out there. Medina and Crain are great artists/writers, so it will be interesting.

hmmm, kinda interesting. Let's see.....

A female kraven that's a blonde? Damn gwen got around....

It's great they've decided to drop the term "brand new" from the titles and instead just fill in the content with the term in repetition.

The venom story I'm interested in. I hope well's takes a cue from the original Secret War, and Web and shows the symbiote as the renegade child it really is, just with some very very bad parents as role models. If they go that way, it will redeem the character completely in my mind.

They should stay away from the teaser of unmasking in the near future. Also death isn't such a great teaser when in the same month there's two more issues featuring the character after the story.

But if you think about it, the human host has always been the symbiote's weakness. If it were by itself, it could just cut loose and be a pure evil monster. Nah, the host has always been the parasite's strength. It can become stronger by pooling it's resources then by itself which would be completely vunerable to fire and sonics. Also note that the parasite is actually not a monster but the only member of it's race that did not want to kill everyone it encountered and that's why it was exiled to battleworld. The parasite's first conscious act based on emotions (which it just learned for the first time) was to save Peter Parker's life after he violently rejected it. Any evil in the creature is solely the result of Peter's betrayal and the subsequent evil in it's later hosts.

August can't get here soon enough. I had to look over the solicitations three times to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

Because I saw Dan Slott, Mark Waid, and John Romita Jr. as the creative team for Amazing Spider-Man. Yeah, my pants are wet.

I'm really excited for the Venom: Dark Origin series. Hope it will be great!

I can't wait for the Spider-Man Family #1. J.M. DeMatteis is back for Spidey!!! :)

Yeah. There's supposed to be a special feature each issue with DeFalco and Frenz, as well as Untold Tales of Spider-Man. Should be great!

I'm down for Venom: Dark Origins, Amazing Spider-Girl, and Ultimate Spider-Man....you guys can have the rest.

I was wondering if anyone else had remembered this.

New symbiotes....new Kravens...ugh.

I never understood what Spiderman Family is exactly, is it in marvel continuity or is it just a bunch of random fun stories?
