It's kinda sad that Pee-Wee's Big Adventure has a better chase scene than B89

Twisted Sister had a cameo on Pee Wee's Big Adventure, that's what was missing from B89.

B89 had Prince. So I say they were pretty equal.

Burton explained on the DVD commentary that if the cars would have gone 100mph they would have been off the lot in seconds.

But that's still a fault of the movie, if they build sets that don't allow for a proper car chase.

Batman is not a great action movie by any stretch of the imagination, it's a great movie with action (action that is decent).

With the Batmobile chase, I think at the time the audience is so amazed at how cool the Batmobile itself is, they're not actually thinking about the chase.
