Since there's a thread for Beetlejuice I think we might as well have one for Tim Burton's other CLASSIC comedy.

Someone always wants to beat me up for saying this, but I think Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is one of the funniest movies ever made. How can you not love the following?

The movie is also great because it has a message. Yes, that's right! There's a point to Pee-Wee's Big Adventure! It's a story about acceptance. When we are introduced to Pee-Wee Herman he is this strange man-child, but everyone loves him. Then, he travels across the country in search of his bike and we see how people judge him. A perfect example is that scene at the Hell's Angels bar. At first they want to kill him then they realize that he's a cool guy even though he's the complete opposite of them. Plus, Pee-Wee doesn't care that he's a weird man-child. He likes who he is and doesn't have to change in order to be cool or accepted. That's another positive message.

The chase scene is my favorite! :) And, yeah, this movie kicks ass! Too bad the sequel sucked. :( Big Top Pee-Wee :cmad:

Perhaps one of the greatest underrated comedys of our time. Love Danny Elfman's score.

Written by Phil Hartman........One of my Top Ten, it is a truly great film

"On this very night, ten years ago, along this very stretch of road in a dense fog just like this. I saw the worst accident I ever seen. There was this sound, like a garbage truck dropped off the Empire State Building... And when they pulled the driver's body from the twisted, burning wreck. It looked like this.."

That chick gave me nightmares. :(

This is probably my most-watched movie EVER.

When do we get to see the basement

one of my favorite scene is when Pee-Wee drove into the billborad

Phil Hartman pretty much co-created Pee Wee Herman. A lot of people don't know that, but its true. Thats the reason Hartman got upset at Paul Reubens. He felt used and unappreciated.

It has its dark moments because Tim Burton directed. It was his first film so he couldn't go all dark, but Reubens let him do some stuff like the Large Marge scene and the clown nightmare.

You were the only one. Do you also know that the original Willy Wonka was dark as well?

Wasn't Pee-Wee Herman arrested for jacking off at an adult theatre?

^ Yup. That's what unfairly ruined his career.

um yeah cuz it used to freak me the hell out when i was a lil kid especially when that ***** blued up like a blue berry

The boat ride was an acid trip. :D It's funny because when John August completed the script for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory he watched Willy Wonka. And, he was shocked to realize that the original was darker than the remake.

I first saw the large marge scene in the theatre when I was seven. Needless to say I nearly pissed myself. I clutched my moms hand in pure terror. Later I couldn't get that ghoul face out my mind. I saw it everywhere I went for days.

Still that scene creeps me out today. I have to prepare mentally before watching it.

One of the worst scares I ever experienced in a movie. Well played Tim Burton. Well played.

^ lol. You were such a p---y, man. lol. :D

It's a great comedy. Some parts of it work better than others, but all in all a really cute movie. I think it runs a little long though. By the time Pee Wee's racing through those Hollywood studio sets, I've kinda had enough.

My favorite scene is when he's explaining the plot about his stolen bike in that basement where he's gathered the whole town. He's so serious and pissed off, it's hilarious.

"It's like a giant sweater that someone keeps knitting and KNITTING AND KNITTING AND KNITTING AND KNITTING AND..."

:woot:

^ WOAH! You've never seen Pee-Wee's Big Adventure? You must see it NOW! :cmad:
