Age of Extinction Its Official Transformers 3 set for 2011!

Nathan,

I'm willing to bet a million dollars that the 'Berg is going to be more hands on with this last film than he was with Revenge of the Fallen.

I think the complaints by parents over the content in certain parts of Revenge of the Fallen guarantees that.

Still enjoy the film but Bay went off the rails like he did with Bad Boys 2. Difference? Bad Boys 2 wasn't geared towards kids.
parents complained ? where? i never saw any reports.

I for one am excited about TF3. I know the special effects will be good. What I really hope for though is a GREAT story that the second one needed badly.

Think about it guys this third film so far has only two voices of input: Bay and Kruger. Thats terrifying and doesn't increase the chances of seeing a better third film but in fact something possibly worse than ROTF.

Orci and Kurtzman are no longer involved and Spielberg is probably not overseeing as he has a bunch of projects of his own to take care of.

Now lets think back for a moment. The first film now seems like complete gold in comparison to ROTF which had Orci/Kurtzman writing and Spielberg watching closely.

ROTF had Orci/Kurtzman working on a story outline written by Bay and then further revised by Bay and Kruger again. What we ended up getting was a turd of a 2nd film.

Now we have Bay and Kruger writing the story for the third, Bay directing without any control again due to the massive earnings of ROTF. Sounds like a disaster to me.

I'm hoping for Paramount to wise up and hire better screenwriters to fix what could possibly be the worst piece of crap to ever grace TF mythology. We'll probably have the Twins drinking Hennessy rodeo riding Optimus Prime into Unicron (it can happen in a Bay film).

I can see how you confirmation on who's doing the writing and Spielberg's involvement from this...
Michael Bay}[I said:
"Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.

Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I'm flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3.[/I]"

Spielbergs involvement in ROTF was minimal. As it will be in this third film. He'll have a couple of meetings but he isn't supervising as he did with the first one. The man is overloaded with his own projects he definitely doesn't have the time to oversee Bay when Paramount is confident after ROTF that he'll bring in the cash by himself without vigilant supervision. Never said Spielberg would have zero involvement but he won't have as much overseeing duties as he did in the first one.

As for my proof of who's working on the script comes from Michael Bay himself. You even quoted it but seem to have missed it...

So all we know right now is that Bay and Kruger are working on the script. No one else. If Paramount will hire other screenwriters to help out is currently unknown.

I thought Transformers ROTF was spot on except for all of the excessive humor that was in the movie. I'm hoping and praying that Bay and company will read and listen to the complaints of many about it and tone down the humor. A movie like Transformers doesn't need to have toilet humor like American Pie. If anything the humor needs to be dry and sarcastic (i.e. Empire Strikes Back or even Batman Begins).

Lots of people liked ROTF.... im sure tons of people will choose TF3 over Captain America or Thor

Lots of people liked the special effects done by ILM.... im sure tons of people will choose sfx over Captain America or Thor

Fixed.

Sure more people might go see TF3 in drives but thats not the point. Captain American and Thor will more than likely be much better films than TF3.

Since when has the GA defined a good movie. They've enjoyed good movies but they've disliked them as well.

So they aren't the be all end all in terms of determining the quality of a film.

Plus Captain America and Thor are owned by Paramount so they'll arrange them appropriately because they also want these franchises to be fruitful.

Im sure alot of peple like Shia Lebouf... :)

Willing to bet that the Twins will make only a cameo in this next film. Trust me, I don't think Bay wants to have to answer the "racist" questions again when it comes to a Transformers movie.

Apparently, in a interview with Orci and Kurtzman(who really aren't geek gods), Sideswipe is in the film much more before Krueger came aboard and added the twins, which Bay liked.

Listen, having them two do the story is not the best news but I'm still pretty positive that Bay will take SOME of the criticisms leveled at Revenge of the Fallen and address them accordingly in this new film.

Plus, per the storyline which Shia predicted (and I agree) would be much darker, we may not have time for the toilet humor. Humanity will be at stake once again but the circumstances behind that will be much higher than anything in the first two films...hence a different film from both of the first two.

Bay doesn't seem like the guy who cares about other people's opinions.

The Twins weren't racist. They were just probably the worst characters ever committed to film. Anyone who found them funny is a moron I'm afraid.

I'm sorry let me rephrase

Anyone over the age of 12 who found them funny is a moron.

I'd like to see them return only to get drunk on "oil" (Robo Hennessy) to willingly/drunkenly joyride their asses into Unicrons (or any giant Decepticon) mouth.

Meeting their demise. I'm sure most would cheer at least I would. They just suck and as said not because they were racially motivated caricatures or not but just because they were so damn annoying and unnecessary.

Not only that but they took Sideswipes screen time. :cmad:

Good point actually. I'd want them to return simply to see them die a horrible, horrible death.

Ace,

The only reason why I say they make a cameo is budgetary reasons. Like with both films, Bay will have to choose his spots when it comes to the robots. You can pretty much guarantee that Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream will, once again, get the bulk of the screen time.

Now, you have to budget for anything new that they may want to introduce. That would be a new villain or more Decepticons.

Either way, some robots are just going to be cameos and I just don't see the twins featured that much in this new film....especially after the criticisms.

Bay may do a in joke in the film and really kill them off, just to see what the audience reaction would be. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Actually, the line just says that the two are going to meet with Hasbro to discuss new character. He said nothing about a script or who was writing it. I misssed nothing, but you've assumed a lot.

I have to ask, but where does the notion that Ehren Kruger was responsible to all the crude humor in ROTF come from?

After reading this thread I just want to quote Jetfire:

"So much negativity. Who wants to live a life full of hate?"

Something tells me that one was intended for all the hate on webforums :D

I'm excited for these news and this time they don't have a strike messing things up. Now, i like Orci and Kurtzman for their overall storylines, but they don't seem to care so much for details. Plot holes, or "short cuts" (like Star Trek coincidences), seemingly happes a lot in their work. I've seen it all and I've never seen them producing somethin 100% rock solid. But as I said, I like their overall work.

They really really need to have a more prominent role for Soundwave in this third one.

Bay already said they have a story ready (not the script). You mean to tell me Ehren Kruger who was a writer contributing to the story in the previous film and Bay specifies he is meeting with him to talk about characters had not previously met regarding the new story?

Its not assumption, Ehren Kruger is involved as a writer in this movie he isn't just a "character idea guy".

I have to ask, but where does the notion that Ehren Kruger was responsible to all the crude humor in ROTF come from?

Orci and Kurtzman washed their hands clean and pretty much said it was Bay and Kruger who enjoyed the idea of the Twins as "hip and in" using "edgy" language.

Go to seibertron.com or tfmovieblog.com if you want to find the interviews.

Are SM4 and POTC 4 confirmed? Awesome!

Well, SM-4 is confirmed. They have the two leading actors and director back on, script is being revised to the director and Sony's liking and they'll start filming early next year.

Not so sure about POTC 4, they haven't finished the script and the director isn't confirmed. Ever since Dick Cook's departure, Johnny Depp's involvement is a bit uneasy at this point.

A Pirates movie without Johnny Depp would be pointless. He's the main reason people see those movies.
