That's an outrage! The world is ending!
My school sent a package with a book and worksheet for some Summer Reading crap. They want it done by the time school starts in August.
?!!
I read enough. I hate it when they think that NO ONE reads anymore when alot of people do.

I read comics, novels, stuff online (like the Hype), game guides, etc.

I hate being forced to read stuff. I know it'll happen in school, and I'll deal with it...but during the summer? Hell no!

:cmad::down

Dude, don't read it. When you go back to school, complain.

wow . . . that's some major bullshyt!! what grade will you be in after summer vacation? or . . . should I say, just summer (not really vacation if you have to do shyt)

he's right . . . tell them you read enough shyt on your own . . . and then lie about all the stuff you didn't really read . . .

Couldn't they just give you the homework before the holidays? Then you could have done it in your own time.

No, don't lie that you read it. Just if they ask for the worksheet simple say "I did not read it because I'm already reading enough comic books and graphic novels throughout the summer, I don't need this". They'll probably send you down to the office (depends on if you're in grade school or high-school) and simply complain to the Principal.

I'm gonna be a sophomore. I'll probably look it up online, get a summary, do the worksheet, and if they ask any questions about the book I'll say I forgot about it because I didn't ever give a damn. That's how it is with subjects in school too. If I don't care, I'll forget eventually.

I wouldn't do it... to hell with what they want you to do over summer... that's supposed to be your days off.

Oh, and worse, I ordered Punisher for PS2 from the internet on Monday and I thought that was it. I'm like "DAMN THAT WAS FAST!"...wow I was dissapointed when I saw it was a book from my school.:o

what are they trying to make you read?

I wasn't saying to lie about reading the shyt they gave you, I was saying lie about all the shyt you read over the summer . . .

either way, do the worksheet but for all the answers, insert your favorite graphic novel plot points . . . :hyper:

Last year my teacher gave us a Flat Stanley and told us to write about what you did with your Flat Stanley and take pictures with it. When she told us this on the last day I yelled "WTF" and was sent out than just left and went home (it WAS 4th period) I returned with no story, no pictures. I colored my Flat Stanley, plopped it on her desk and yelled "HERE MISS!"

lmao To the package getting lost.

It's some Lord of the Flies book. My bro said he watched a movie version in school, and it was good. But I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!!!! I don't want to read it!

Why can't they just send the DVD?!

i used to get exactly the same thing. Last year i was made to do a sketchbook full of drawings and annotation over the summer- before i had even enrolled on the course!

Well drawing is my hobby. I don't think I'd mind as much.

But I would I guess, it IS summer.

honestly though . . . Lord of the Flies is a pretty good book . . . I think there's a graphic novel too . . .wink, wink

lol. It could be a good book, but that doesn't mean we should HAVE to read it!

Well, really, this can't wait? Summer? Come on. And a worksheet.

Firstly, is it a public or private school?

If it is the former, I'd tell my child not to do it and write a letter to the school explaining that my child is my responsibility over the summer, not theirs. It is my job to raise my child, not theirs. And during the summer, if I want to park my kid's ass infront of a TV and feed him chocolate and candy every day, it is my choice, not theirs. When he is in their school for eight hours a day, five days a week, they can do what they want, but other than that, back off.
