Wild Things.

What the hell is this movie even about? The trailer just showed a bunch of random explosions.

Easily the weakest movie trailer shown last night.

No interest in this movie whatsoever.

yeah its a shame that they didn't show everything about the film...

JJ is doing a great move by doing this, keeping the suspense and the mystery about the film with telling bits of the movie at a time. It has the same tone as a (old school) Spielberg film.

is that the music of the film, or from another movie, because that music is what made it epic

Oh Iron_Stark, here's the synopsis.

The Paramount Pictures release is set in Ohio in 1979 and introduces a troupe of six youngsters who are using a Super 8 camera to make their own zombie movie. One fateful night, their project takes them to a lonely stretch of rural railroad tracks and, as the camera rolls, calamity strikes — a truck collides with an oncoming locomotive and a hellacious derailment fills the night with screaming metal and raining fire. Then something emerges from the wreckage, something decidedly inhuman.

Looks good enough to be there on opening day.

All right. Time to analyze this sucker.

This completely baffles me.

We see in this shot that whatever "it" is, it has some sort of energy it puts off that causes things to happen as it comes near.
Thus the cars honk and flicker their lights.

Zf8rx.png

Same for this scene, where the lights in the building constantly flicker.

9d3S1.png

Obviously whatever it is isn't very friendly.

This shot is incredibly interesting. That blue thing on the left is not part of the overall explosion, and it seems to be moving away from it, as if it were flying. Gentlemen, I think that it is the creature. More evidence below.

Rkgz1.png

Destruction is raining down from ABOVE. You can not tell me the military is doing this. Whatever this monster is, it is malevolent, and it can fly.

cCQ3G.png

MANY shots in this of people staring upward. More evidence towards the idea that this being is a flying being. I believe it is a flying being made up of some sort of blue energy, but that's based on a blurry shot and flickering lights.

rgxY0.png

Someone gets dragged away. Are there two monsters? Can the flying being walk? This baffles me.

5AW24.png

More destruction from above.

More looking up.

I was excited for this movie but then he said this would be a movie focusing on kids so I think that takes away most of the intense action and build up if he said this goes along with the Goonies or ET. I really didn't want a confused alien or a baby alien doing shenanigans with a bunch of kids.

Oh well, I will go watch this if it gets amazing reviews but I am now 0% excited. That first teaser trailer was so intense and ominous and then we get a kids movie? Why JJ?

Yeah, I don't think that guy getting dragged away to a horrible death in the shot above is a trait you'd see in a 100% kids movie. :whatever:

The music is from James Horner's Cocoon score, which came out around the same time period E.T. did.

Lol @ the Locke's jeweler sign, nice reference to Lost.

I wonder if maybe there are two aliens. One a little friendlier, and one that's destructive?

He could be dragged away for some massive tickling for all you know.

This does look a lot like ET. A confused friendly alien is being attacked and some kids will try to save it. I would bet money that is exactly what this is. I would say this is ET with some more action and the humor will be Goonie-esque.

I would guess that last shot up there is them hurting the Alien or capturing it.

LOL God forbid someone try to bring back a little movie magic and not have the whole picture spoiled a year before it comes out. Makes me wonder what people like this did before the internet.

And I love the Goonies and ET. Nothing wrong with a kid-friendly movie as long as it's a good one.

Oh good lord.

You're going to feel really stupid when I repeatedly rub this in your face when the movie comes out and you are 100% wrong.

The last shot could be of Elvis coming to earth from Mars for all you know. :awesome: Especially as you haven't tried to deduce anything logically at all. Everything shown points in the exact opposite direction of the alien being anything remotely like ET. I don't think Abrams or Spielberg are stupid enough to blatantly rehash that.

There is nothing wrong with kid movies...I just thought it would be something different. I don't line up at midnight to go see kid movies. I do also like Goonies but that is because it is from my childhood. As you grow up, fart and pee jokes just don't age with you.

Oh wow someone doesn't get jokes and is way too invested in this movie.

Abrams said ET and Goonies. I didn't say that. Abrams said that this movie will follow kids around and have humor. I didn't say that.

I also didn't say this movie would suck and be horrible so quell your angry sexual excitement. I said that I thought this movie was something different because of the teaser and I was very interested. I am now 0% excited for this movie being geared towards kids. If the movie gets great reviews, then I will go watch it. So settle down there and watch where you are pointing that thing.

He also said it would be a scary, funny, science fictiony story. What's not to love about all of those qualities? What he was describing was a great film like Raiders of the Lost Ark.
