Abrams, you glorious bastard.

i am reading some comments and a lot are complaining that they didnt show the monster.

hahah how crazy :woot:

I can't speak for anyone else but I don't want to see a hint of that thing until my ass is parked in the seat opening weekend.

it was a smart choiceto make the movie in the 70's. no iphone, ipad and facebook jokes. and all the mistery works better without modern technology

^ for sure, not mention having to wait to develop the film to even see wtf you caught on camera.

also, i'm more or less absolutely in love with this trailer.

J.J Abrams and Spielberg

The most mysterious and secretive movie ever.

Spielberg and George Lucas are known for being super protective about their films

-Contracts signed by actors telling them not to reveal plot info

-Secretive scripts

watched the trailer 20 times.

found out that the movie doesnt come out until july(europe). nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. this means that if i dont want to be spoiled i can not use the internet and watch TV. curse you tank-man

Those kids cant help but make me think of my childhood. Like, of course I wasn't born whenever this movie took place, but my friends and I did all the film stuff.

this is what i'm talking about! this is like throw back 80's style speilberg. awesome new preview.

Movie looks like it could be a classic. The vibes and feel of this movie gives me chills.

We need more movies like this....well actually no, these films are special. Out of all the films releasing and this is an original work. JJ Abrams, I love you.

I like how she squints like how senior citizens handle hand held cameras.

Grandma! The picture is on the screen! You don't need to look through the hole!

Oh Kat Dennings, your boobs made whatever you do bad...good.

New trailer was great, one of the greatest trailers I have seen in a while. I just hope it's a great movie and really gripping and tense and not too childish/friendly like one of those rumors months ago that the alien was friendly and just scared.

For me it feels like a mix between ET + Close Encounters + The Goonies + The Iron Giant

I don't want the alien to be friendly or misunderstood. I want it to be bad. It does have a Goonies vibe no doubt as well as Close Encounters.

Great trailer.

What I got from it is Abrams addressing his love for movies and Spielberg, but mostly movies. The whole idea with them making movies and capturing it on camera tells me it's saying something about the very magic of movies themselves. Like childhood wonder and innocence that an audience should feel like when they watch a film. The kids could represent that innocence and nature that grown ups and even teenagers have forgotten. All applied to the magic of making movies. Kind of like Nolan does with the Prestige but that appeals to the child in all of us, which is never a bad thing.

This could be something very special.

true. and i think the dad even says to hes son that he shouldnt play with cameras and monster make up.

That's one of the main parts that got me thinking about it. People, especially perhaps back then, didn't really see the true value of movies. His dad is probably the guy who doesn't think what his son is doing is what normal boys should do like playing a sport or getting a job. Perhaps it's Abrams drawing from parts of his own childhood or just pulling some Spielberg-ian stuff. The whole parent dying aspect and having a troubling relationship with other parent is Spielberg-ian.

Sick poster....I promised myself i wouldnt watch the trailer

In the last 5 mins I lied to myself. Such an awesome trailer. Looks great. I love the feel of it, I love the score, I love that Kyle Chandler is getting work in a big film like this after Friday Night Lights.

This will be awesome

Interesting trailer. Look forward to a movie not based on a comicbook Superhero.

Well it probably will be. This is Spielberg. E.T. and Close Encounters. And then you have JJ who brought Cloverfield, who was just a baby and scared. So chances are the alien/creature will be scared and lost. I mean it would be great if this is Jaws, but I'm not holding my breath.
