Action-Adventure Jack Ryan series (Amazon Prime)

Still haven't watched season 1. Looked too glossy from the trailers and I heard mixed things

They apparently finished filming S2 in Oct last Yr.
 I had no idea, I know they renewed it for a second season before the first had even dropped on Amazon. So is there a release date for season 2 yet?

I don't know that I'd call it glossy. Some of it was a bit slow at the start, like a Netflix series.

No release date yet.

Probably in the summer again like last year. I'm fine with that. It's not like I have time to watch it right now anyway with all the other shows.

When is "soon"? Is it in August? Hasn't this already been renewed for Season 3?

I had heard that the original pitch for the series was to remake Clear and Present Danger. It looks like almost a shot for shot take on the Colombian ambush scene, an IED instead of a RPG mixed in with Russia stuff.

Looks badass. Can't wait for this new season, but it sucks that we still don't have a release date. I also completely forgot that Noomi Rapace was starring in this season, but I love the fact that she will be getting in on the action as well. She is definitely a more than physically capable actress when it comes to her doing action sequences.

I hope this season is much better. The first season was so damn trite and the ending was an unfulfilling rushed flop.

Season 1 also had a lot of bad meandering subplots, like the drone pilot who got beat up by that psycho couple from the casino.

What was that even about? I never quite got it or its relation to the main plot.

I have no idea. It was completely and totally unnecessary. IMHO it was the writers attempting to make the show more dramatic and award worthy. It didn't seem to tie back into the main plot at all.

I think they were trying to make the show more "dramatic" like a Breaking Bad or House of Card to make it seem more prestigious. Oh here's a drone pilot who feels guilty and hates himself for what he does. He goes to Syria to try to make amends for a wrongful drone strike death. They probably thought it was topical, but it didn't really work within the confines of the show of Jack Ryan trying to uncover and track down a radicalized terrorist trying to repeat 9/11.

Look at Punisher having similar subplots that didn't really go anywhere and easily could've been cut and really added nothing to the overall story.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think Amazon always does a great job of marketing their shows. Look at The Tick. Season 1 came out and virtually nothing until right before season 2 was set to drop.

If I have to guess it sounds like we are getting a release date tomorrow ( Im betting it will be late Nov)

I keep trying to watch this show but every episode feels like a slog. I think it’s just Krasinski. I haven’t read the novels so I don’t know if he’s closer to the Jack Ryan in the books than other interpretations but I just find him so bland in the role. Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin are miles ahead of him... hell, even Chris Pine had more charisma or intensity. Krasinski just seems like kind of a dope.

Well the books ran the gambit from a injured Marine vet independently wealthy from Wall Street who finds himself back in government service to the President of the US. Yeah I was not a fan of Affleck in the role. He was so forgettable. He's not a bad actor but I feel like he should just avoid iconic hero characters because in my book, he's 0 for 3 on them.

I bought the first season on DVD a couple of months ago. I liked it a lot. Looking forward to the next season.

I think this could've been before November 1st since they even ordered season 3 last year just after season 1 finished when season 2 wasn't made yet.
