That would be biologically not coherent if not impossible with the way Cameron create his universe.
He makes thing that could possibly exist and make creatures that might work from a bio-mechanic point of view.

It is scifi not fantasy

If we're talking about biological coherence, why are the Na'vi anthropomorhpic in almost every detail? That's a tremendously unlikely case of parallel adaptive radiation if I'd ever seen one.

Cameron says he has a reason to why the Na'vi have a resemblance to humans. He says that everything will be explained in the novel which I think may be released late this year.

Um...only in the event that the trait no longer has its original function, or has strongly reduced functionality. That's kind of the definition of "vestigial."

Well they wouldn't because they cannot breath underwater (I am assuming) but they may still have traits that would be suitable for a marine environment

Why would it be unlikely? Sure they do share many similarities with humans but they are very different. Not to mention, Pandora is very Earth-like and even richer in biodiversity, so it isn't that much surprising to see creatures that are human-like

I have an answer to that That is when the fiction takes over the science.
It also serve the scenario since it was human dna mixed with the Na'vi.

I agree, it might be an unlikely case but I'd rather identify myself as a nice looking human-cat character than something non humanoid at all.

You're absolutely right. It was very much easier to identify with a humanoid creature than something else, and it was a change that helped the plot.

I'm not knocking Cameron for the move or anything, just thought I'd throw that one example out there. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices in realism to tell a story like this, and it probably turned out for the better.

However, Sarg92 says Cameron has an explanation, so maybe it's a moot point.

Because then you wouldn't have an epic battle with gunships and Pandora's creatures.

I just wanna know why basically every animal on Pandora that we saw have 6 limbs.

Low gravity, high air density. They evolved that way for increased ground contact so they could move better.

So why don't the Na'vi? I mean they could still be bi-peds and have another set of arms made to help them swing around like the lemurs or something. I dunno just something that didnt make to much sense to me evolutionarily speaking of course.

I think of them as another evolutionary step beyond the Prolemuris. As they stood upright, the need for the quadruple arms diminished.

For pratical reason and I doubt the Na'vis would have been glad to see monstruous mining vehicule in their home.
An open mine is far easier to exploit that an underground one, I would think.

Yeah but you're mining something that is like 20 million a kilo? A few kilos could fund an entire mining operation. If the tree collapses into the ground, the Navi would blame it on Mother Eywa for being angry or some *****.

20 Million is maybe not all that much in 2150. Also why bother with some savages when you can just make them move by force.
The mining location wasn't only below Hometree, it was also all around it I imagine like the site we saw at the begining.

Because the general audience is too close minded to accept main characters that don't closely resemble humans.
