James Cameron's Sequel to "AVATAR"

I also don't want humans as the bad guys again. The human aggressors in this film were mercenaries. Would prefer to see human forces ally with Na'vi against a different alien race in the sequel. Would be an awesome combination of future tech military Vs natural.

You have the right idea, but if they start going Star Wars on it and basically go around the galaxy, it won't work as well. They set a good boundary in the first movie. Just keep it in the two star systems. That said there should be a different type of threat. Maybe some human/navi mixed race that returns to Pandora or something. That's as far as I'd go.

i just dont see why they would on Earth agree to send so much weapons on Pandora. i mean those aliens can think and talk. they are not like dogs or worms. the na'vi are intelligent.

people suck. what else is new? i mean its not like the entire world population would be on board. I'm sure there would be some kind of PETA for Pandora, but that wouldn't stop a giant corporation

I think he'll keep it within the confines of Polyphemus & its surrounding moons. For any travel between various moons the Na'vi will have to be allies with humans as they don't have space travel tech. The finale of the film could be the combined Na'vi tribes defending Pandora aided by Earth's human armies against a conquering and advanced aggressive alien race.

Also I hope we get a good excuse to see a healthy dose of Future Earth in the next sequel!

Pity DVD/Bluray release wont be 3D for a while...

yea im pissed on that news, now it looks like a double dip more than ever :cmad:

Since everyone saw Avatar merely for the special effects. If it were really a profound film then Dances With Wolves would have hit it first.

The best option is to have a huge comeback for the humans and more action that illuminates the special effects. Go inside the interior of Pandora, see some more of the spectacular sights on the surface. Have the humans come with enormous arrays of weapons and the Navi could not fight them off. If Pandora looks so beautiful at night, imagine the caves and caverns of the world underneath.

My guess is, destroy or give away the unobtainium, then the humans will leave and never return.

whatever the story will be expect it to be much stronger than the last one since almost everyone scrutinized Cameron for the lack of a strong story

I hope this is the case. I would like to see the story develop and become more complex.

this something good for you. now that you all are forced to whait you will get a better 3D at home. the first versions will suck

The only thing I know about the Avatar sequel for sure, is that it will destroy all previouse opening records by a huge margin..

First day (with midnights) over 100mio, 200+mio Weekend and all upcoming fastest to.. records up to 500mio.

c.

And I hope, that Cameron makes Battle Angel first.. (but It wont happen)

Cameron should really adapt something truly awesome like Battle Angel which has had NO mainstream exposure than give us a sequel to "Pocahontas in Space"

It's not a very interesting universe. Just because everything is really pretty and GLOWS!! doesn't make it all that intriguing. Yes, we get it, you like sea life

That's another idea. James Cameron's Bioshock

What could be an interesting way of having the humans come back in the sequel, is to have them come to Pandora in peace, simply wanting to live there after hearing how beautiful the world is and the journey Jake went through.

But some of the Na'vi reject them and start killing them, making the Na'vi the bad guys this time and would make Jake torn, I think that could be a great 'the T-800 is now the good guy' twist.

interestind ideas very interesting.so Jake would have to choose between the na'vi and the good humans that did nothing bad .

It is an interesting way of taking the story in an different direction.
However i don't see how this will work especially when the first movie has explained very clearlt that Pandora isn't a special place. Yes it looks beautiful but humans can't walk on Pandora's surface without breathing equipment. They would have to stay inside a base . Not to mention that Pandora is a deadly place ( which is something that Quaritch was constantly reminding everyone) with animals that would kill you in a second.

The only way humans can live on Pandora is either by military force or terraforming the place (something of Aliens) . Both options mean that the humans are a threat to the Na'Vi with the terraforming actually being a direct threat.

A simple virus is the best weapon. You guys do remember what wiped out most of the Indians right?

Yeah and Jake can be immune to it since he was once human.

I don't want to see another film of Na'vi vs humans. I want a bigger, badder enemy for the sequel.

I would like to see some Na'vi vs Na'vi fights. Maybe the tribes are split on allowing Jake to become their grand leader and they fight. Maybe even introduce a more ape like Na'vi-esque humanoid that lives on the other side of Pandora or even on the planet that Pandora orbits. Then, it can show what Earth is really like and the mass exodus of the humans to Pandora because Earth is now unliveable. Someone mentioned the virus route...maybe a virus plagues Earth and they bring it to Pandora. You could even show a lady holding a picture of Jake in one of the ships. That could lead to an epic third movie.

I could see it being deliberately done like the British did with blankets covered in smallpox and various other diseases to Indians loyal to the French in North America. That way it could wipeout whole tribes and force another massive coming together of Navi.

  • The corporation frames the aggressive natives as savages to Earth and get further permission to expand
  • They get permission to use biological weapons to nonhuman species because a new form of racism
  • Humans land and are able to finally mine for unobtainium
  • Jake leads human infiltrators in to manufacture a vaccine and must prevent further infection by going underground
  • Navi begin to use human weapons as instructed by Jake and other humans
  • Larger battle than before

I'd considered the viral epidemic plot possibility before and don't really like it.

War of the Worlds has been done. War of the Worlds on Pandora would just be a further step down I think and really the prediction on where that could go is pretty one-sided: Virus gets a foothold, things get ugly, Eywa steps in and saves the day.

Yuck.

The problem there is Avatar has already set up an adventure structure with heroes and villains. The moment you throw divine intervention into the mix, the heroes become supporting participants and it really needs to be them who will carry the major plot points through to the conclusion of the story.

I've said it before but I'll say it again:

The humans have now seen the potential benefits (and opportunities) of the Avatar program and will seek to indulge in it for their own gain. Yes, that's right. Baddies with avatars, which can disrupt the entire Pandoran serenity that is so important to the Na'vi.

I gotta say...if it's an army of blue guys against an army of blue guys...count me out.
