James Cameron's Sequel to "AVATAR"

Happy about the sequels being confirmed... but not so happy about 2 of them being made at the same time. Because they always end up using Part 2 as a trailer for Part 3, like in Pirates. Kind of why I'm not so excited about Deathly Hallows Part 1 as well...

:down

What a painfully awkward ending, wrapped in a big bow of fake laughter.

for some reason im not thrilled about this two sequels. i mean avatar was ok, boring sometimes but okay movie at the end.

lol if this movie was released by any other director... i think people wouldnt be praising this bland unoriginal movie.

yeah it made 2billion.. thanks to the cameron name and insane marketing. I mean they are literally still showing a million ads for Avatar on tv..(cellphones, 3d tv's, etc). Word of mouth did contribute... but not people saying it was awesome.. just people telling each other that they must see this huge cinematic event. The most i ever heard from people regarding the quality was that the visuals were pretty good.

not sure how it not only got nominated for best picture but was getting all the buzz of actually beating hurt locker and winning. I would imagine a best picture nominee(especially a potential winner) would have to at least get some sort of screenplay or acting nod too. Ingourious basterds and district 9 both had not only great screenplays and acting but were original, just like hurt locker. The only reason explaining its nomination is its box office success, which after the dark knight uproar of it not getting a nomination probably caused them to include avatar.

but w/e... that aside, who here really cares to see more of this dull story? especially instead of cameron directing something new and original?...worthy of the title "groundbreaking". lol

Actually I like it because it's a fantastic film, not because Cameron made it...all though that's why it is what it is. Oh...btw...Inglorious Bastards sucked. Hard.

It made close to 3 billion, not 2 billion.

Your delusionality is hilarious though, so keep it up. Im sure if you keep telling yourself that no one wants to see another Avatar movie you'll actually start to believe it, too bad your mind will be shattered on opening weekend in 2014. Your whining is just as pathetic as all the whiners after Titanics massive success. Thank god James Cameron doesn't have to hold himself back from doing what he wants to do by listening to insignificant opinions like your own.

Oh, just so you know, Cameron has planned to make Avatar as a trilogy even before he started to make the first movie

I absolutely hated the first, but you know what I'm going to do? Not watch the sequels instead of complain about them. The club isn't exclusive any of you uninterested folks can join too!
^This is what normal sane people do.

For instance, I never liked the POTC or Harry Potter movies. They were extremely popular and huge money makers but I didn't like them...so I didn't go to POTC or HP threads and forums continuously expressing my disdain for the films. Apparently (after nearly a year) some people still find the need to tell fans of the film how much they think Avatar is "cliche"...ironically they don't know that "cliche" is exactly what their comments have become :whatever:

To everybody who enjoys talking about how cliche Avatar is;

We get it, you're REALLY intelligent. You are far too good for the likes of us. We marvel at your ability to enjoy movies not full of special effects.

Now go away and stop wasting your talent by coming to these threads.

I didn't like the original all that much, but the 'wait and see' approach is probably the best advice I can give to haters rather than bashing.

Thats all I have to say that was a Brilliant a Marvellous response, I'm going to use that on every hater. Thank you.

to me, avatar had it's story finished. don't see where they can go with the characters, but they could make sequels with different characters.
he can explore new areas of pandora through different clan and thus new main characters.
kind of making the sequels solo movies.

My guess is that Cameron will write in that the humans will return and colonize, and will mirror the British colonization of North America.

Or a major retaliation in all out war! From the end of the last movie the humans could return to Earth telling their side of the story, which sparks a retaliation in the people of Earth to seek revenge, and then the humans return to Pandora for all out war!

Obviously the humans are going to return. When they finally get back to Earth after five or six years, I'm sure they'll put their own spin on everything that went down and mobilize a much larger force to come back.

I'll say it again: I don't dislike Avatar and the plot wasn't much. But the biggest disappointment was the characters. Usually Cameron's kinda weak on plot but GREAT with character development, which Avatar didn't really have.

I agree, I was really hoping not to go off on a tangent but here goes:

Avatar was like having Star Wars without Han Solo, Jake wasn't it, for several reasons, one: Sam Worthington is wooden and has no charm, sort of like Hammill as Luke Skywalker. Two: Jake gets to escape his crappy life and become an alien, after the film ends, the audiences are still humans living crappy lives, how are we expected to relate to him? Three: Jake turns his back on the human race, I.E. the audience. Leaving the Planet Earth to consume itself is going to be the human villain's motivation for revenge in the sequel, how the hell are we supposed to root against that?

Sersiouly add someone fun to watch as a space marine and the movie will improve tenfold!

Yeah but labeling other movies as 're-done and rehashed' is what makes them so smug and cool. :awesome: Don't you dare take that away from them! :argh:

I don't know, I quite liked Jake. I liked the way he changed from this bleak, subdued character to a man with a purpose.

i actually liked Jake more so than Neytiri
i thought she was going to be my fav character but Jake was

I've seen Jake's character too many times before to really be impressed with it. Tom Cruise did it better. :o

That's cause Tom Cruise is a better actor. Didn't Fox want Jake Gyllenhaal for Sully? I personally think that would've been better.

I never heard that before but that's interesting. I also would have preferred Jake Gyllenhaal.

I thought Sam Worthington was fine in the role.
