DC Television James Gunn's Suicide Squad’ Spinoff Series ‘Peacemaker’ Starring John Cena on HBO Max

Let me put it to you this way… aside from one scene at the very end (which was just retconned) and a couple of jokes here and there, very little in Peacemaker season 1 connects to the DCEU. And a lot of the things that do (like Amanda Waller’s appearances) are also canon to the DCU. So if you skip it, you’ll be missing out on some great DCU material. Not to mention that if you just watch season 2, you’ll miss out on all the character growth and development in season 1, so scenes in season 2 won’t have the same impact. And again, these are all DCU characters now so skipping season 1 just avoids DCU content more than anything else.

But it's still not the DCU, it's events in another universe that are very similar to offscreen events in the DCU. Doesn't matter how closely it aligns with the offscreen events of the DCU that we don't see, it's still a different universe and I don't feel like watching that universe and doing the whole "knowing more or less what happens in the DCU by proxy" thing, I only want to watch what's officially and directly part of the DCU, IE the universe with Corenswet's Superman and the Justice Gang in it, IE Creature Commandos and onward. So with that in mind, how well does season 2 hold up as a jumping on point? Does it at least provide us with all the information we'd need to know to understand the plot?

I haven’t seen S1 and felt totally caught up with the “Previously On” & the context of Episode 1 (and The Suicide Squad). Seems pretty straightforward to me as to what’s canon / what’s not.

I like this approach; and hope it bodes well for Blue Beetle. Give that the DC Studios logo & it works.

I've seen the first season and while it's worth it I totally get what you're asking.

At the beginning of Season 2 they play a short Recap of the "relevant" information from Season 1. In the context of the DCU this recap will give you any information you may need. Then you can jump right into Season 2. Any questions that may arise you'll have answered either through context or through a straight up acknowledgment.

So you're good to go ahead and start S2

That's good to know. Thanks!

The 40 minutes recap on the offical DC Youtube channel is also a good way to get up to date.
