Horror James Wan's "The Conjuring"

My expecations aren't high for this either, but I'm willing to give it a chance. I really do wish Wan was directing again because this franchise has been going on a downward spiral for me ever since The Nun and la Llorona wasn't very good either, but maybe this one could end up being pretty decent.

I've never seen any of the Conjuring films.

Heck, i just found out Annabelle and The Nun are spin-offs of these.

Are any of these worth watching?

All of them since they are under the same cinematic universe.

The two Conjuring movies are. Annabelle: Creation (the 2nd movie in that sub-franchise) is the only good one out of those movies IMO.

I didn't think The Nun was terrible, but certainly could've been better.

Was The La Llorona movie a spin-off of the Conjuring universe or was it it’s own thing? Can’t remember...it wasn’t too memorable

Yeah those three are the ones to see.

Looking forward to the trailer. I've only seen Conjuring part 1 and 2, I have not watch the spinoffs.

looks good! Was worried about Wan not directing, but i like what i see.

I dunno man. I feel they spoil a lot of good scares in there already with the waterbed hand and the hand grabbing her foot at the end. And I just feel any horror movie that focuses so much on creepy hands don't tend to be good, and this trailer was all hands.

I'm not the biggest fan of the first two, but I do like them due to Wan's directing and style. This one looks alright, some neat stuff in there.

Not overly confident, since I haven't liked any of the spin-offs I've seen (haven't seen Annabelle: Creation). La Llorona was very meh.

Huh, surprised to see mostly positive reviews. Even the more negative ones still seem to imply it’s worth seeing for a couple of scenes, so I’ll give it an HBO Max Watch when it hits.

Just watched the original again last night. It really is a great horror film. Gonna watch part 2 tonight in prep for 3.

I was worried without James Wan at the helm, but now I'm really hyped because of the positive reviews. Can't wait!

Definitely will be doing a marathon when the third movie comes out

Just came from the cinema and i generally enjoyed this more than 2 which is surprising as the director made The Curse of La Llorona which was i hated . He's done a solid job here . There isnt as much levity like the other two due to not having big families and smaller children and this really does make the tone dark throughout , the scares are probably not as iconic as the others but stand on there own quite well. Patrick and Vera steal the show once again. Vera especially. There roles really dwelled into the investigation aspect when compared to the other 2 films. Very short review but this film hits differently to the other two (In a good way). The atmosphere seemed to linger in the right scenes that made me feel abit uneasy at various points and the fact they went in a direction the franchise hasn't really explored yet kept it engaging. I will definitely give it another watch but as of now i would give it a 8/10.

This was my least favorite of the three films which I all re-watched today, but I still enjoyed it. Loved the darker tone and atmoesphere and honestly if this movie had been as strong as it started out being I definitely would have liked it more because the opening is pretty great and sets things up quite effectively.

The scares in the second half of this movie just weren't as memorable as anything from the first two movies IMO and Wan's stylish/dynamic is sorely missed, but this is still a pretty damn good horror flick and a major step up in quality from this directors last movie The Curse of la Llorona which was absolute garbage.

WB released some videos about the real-life Warrens and the Conjuring-verse movies in general on their YouTube channel:
