Horror James Wan's "The Conjuring"

I dozed off during some of the scenes. Probably my least favorite of the three. Definitely the most boring one, IMO.

The Devil Made Me Do It is so generic and it peaked with the opening scene. I really liked Annabelle Comes Home and I'm surprised they didn't just get Gary Dauberman to direct. ACH seemed like a dry run for The Conjuring 3. It's a much better Conjuring movie than this.

I enjoyed it, but it's my least favorite of the 3. As a big fan of the first 2, I think it's time for me to admit that this franchise may have run it's course.

Really wish James Wan would’ve returned to complete the “trilogy”. They even had to ruin it by adding a subtitle instead of a perfect “3” lol.

I hate when they do that just for the third movie. I’m also looking at you How to Train Your Dragon!

Saw this last night, probably 6/10 for me. Agree with others that the first two were better. The directing & writing left quite a bit to be desired. Wasn't a fan of how the plot unfolded either.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are the real stars of the show and are what keep me coming back though. I'd watch more Conjuring movies if they kept returning for them. They make such a good movie couple too, their chemistry as a movie couple makes them feel like a real couple and I'd ship them if I could!

Also since this is "based on a real story," I wonder what the family of

the guy who got murdered thinks of this. They kind of portray him as a creep, and they're basically saying that the murderer was innocent.

Like really? I think the premise is problematic to start with, since unlike the previous 2 films, where the real life events had an air of mystery because it wasn't officially documented outside of the Warrens, they had certain constraints on how far out they can go with the fantastical elements to keep it still "grounded" so to speak. Since this third film is based on a court case where the crux of the entire film's argument of demonic possession was thrown out, and therefore not used at all in court, they kind of went off the rails in terms of how fantastical they can go with everything. A simple google search will show you the outcome of the real life case, so there was really no mystery to it at all.

Was waiting to find time to see this in a theater. While I enjoyed seeing this with my friends, I kinda regret just not watching this at home. Talk about absolute nonsense. There was so much going on, and it was all pretty bad.

Even though I don't think he could've saved the horrid script, Wan's absence behind the director's chair was felt.

Pretty bad. If Wan wasn’t interested enough then why should we be interested? I’m not surprised. The trailers were so hokey. You cared about the families in the first two. Not so much in this one. Vera and Patrick deserved better.

I haven't seen any of the spinoffs, lol. I bought them with the intent to watch them all, but haven't got that far. The wife is not into horror films, so I have to watch those on my own. Tricky when I am usually with her or watching a little one that wants to watch Finding Nemo and Finding Dory nonstop all day, lol

As someone who mostly enjoyed the third, I welcome this news. Wouldn’t be opposed to a more exciting director, though. Wan was a lot to live up to and a Chaves didn’t quite get there.

The Curse of La Llorona was awful. The kids kept switching from terrified to bold without any plausible reason
