Jared Leto IS The Joker

That's one thing I appreciate about Burton's Joker. He did switch up the wardrobe a little bit throughout the film.

It'd be nice to see a variety of costumes this time out. Lord knows they've got plenty of options to play with.

They definitely need to be shaped at the very least.

What do we think? Green eyebrows or black?

Green. I favour the idea that whatever bleached his skin also gave his hair a greenish, bleached tint. It can be inferred that he cosmetically enhances his green hair and ruby lips.

What do you guys want to see when it comes to Joker's clothing style in this movie?

I love the purple suit to bits, and there are a lot of different ways it could be approached. Jack Nicholson's outfits seemed to come from a dystopian circus, while Heath Ledger's belonged to a steam punk vagrant. There are so many options left for Leto's. Something inspired by the garish, primary coloured suits of the 1980s might work very well. How about a fuchsia and black chalk-stripe with padded shoulders, cut really short at the hem? That would still play on the same source material, but look different to anything else we have seen.

Alternatively, an orange boiler suit, as I really like the idea of him being locked up in Arkham.

I know people are probably TDK Returns'ed out. But I'd love to see Leto Joker wearing a white suit at some point. Change the wardrobe up here and there.

hope Leto's white suit will be as entertaining as Ledger's white nurse's uniform

It looks well done, but I'm not a fan of the hair. Too rockstarish.

A little too boyish.

Really, these artists should be using photos from Dallas Buyers Club as the base for their manips.

If he can drop a little weight and shape/thin out his eyebrows, that would age him a bit. Not to mention the aging effects that can be achieved through makeup work.

Taking a random picture of Leto off Google and throwing a black-and-white filter over his skin isn't working for me.

If he has that emo hair, I will punch a nun.

Voluminous hair makes him look that much more boyish.

Slicked back, shorter hair all the way.

I honestly don't see a point of Leto's Joker being similar in looks to the Miller's TDKR one.

It always struck me that Joker's deteriorated and washed-out look in this world was related to the fact that there was no Batman anymore, as a mere reflection of the lack of his polar opposite. It's obvious that Joker becomes active once again only after he finds out that Batman has returned. He also returns to the scene, almost immediately.

It's not that I'm willing to give that much credit to Miller though, as I doubt he possesses mind that is coherent enough to plan out something like that... it was probably just the design he felt more appropriate for a dystopian world of TDKR, but still, it is an impression that one gets from it all.

If Batman isn't retired in this movie, than there's no reason at all to make Joker less lively and flamboyant.

I don't think Batman is going to be coming out of retirement in these movies.

At least I hope not. I'm sick of this retirement ********.

Excellent post, and I agree, though I don't object to some variant on the white suit, if only for variety.

I think it's the opposite of TDKR. As opposed to Bale coming out of retirement, this is supposedly about Affleck easing into retirement.

It wouldn't be a deal-breaker to me, for sure. And part of me actually wants to see that just for the sake of something different.

I find it would be best if they just reference it at some point, in a scene or two.

Why are people photoshopping those pics when we got these?

Dude has been waiting his whole life to play the Clown Prince of Crime it seems haha.

He's going to kill it.

Jack and Heath were brilliant. Heath was phenomenal and to look at him and how placid he was, it's incredibly what he performed. Just look at how he was in BM, then to see him as that?

And that's a skill Jared has. They can both change everything about themselves and you need someone like that for Jack.
Jack was being Jack, doing Joker things in B89, but he was fun to watch.
Whereas Heath lost himself to the character.
Jared will probably do the same, but he has this weirdness to him anyway and we know that...which is why I think he'll be absolutely terrifying.
Heath was a nice guy playing a psycho.
Jared is an oddball playing a psycho and that creeps me more.

@Rodrigo
Very nice observation!

As for Willem Dafoe, he was basically born to play the Joker, as much as Robin Williams was born to play the Riddler. It's a shame we'll never get neither, but I'm happy with Leto.

The thing is, while Leto might be an oddball, that doesn't necessarily mean he can act like one on film. While Ledger was a surprise, I think he had more range than Leto has, and if Leto hadn't won an Oscar, it's doubtful he would have even been considered for the Joker. I have a feeling the studio is hoping lighting will strike twice, that Leto's Oscar is proof that he isn't just a pretty face. But I'm not sure he is.

Nah, it's the lead singer of 30 Seconds to Joker.

You remind me of the bat
What bat? bat with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the bat
