Source's say that the long awaited sequal to Jaws: The Revenge has been unlocked by chains. Nobody know's when production will begin but it is comfirmed that somebody will start the script sometime next next year. Nothing else yet is comfirmed, but some screen writers have disscused about the name going along the line's of Jaws: Amity Island or just the title being Welcome to Amity Island, also the idea of the story being set around the late 70's is still a possibility because Universal once comfirmed that the next Jaws film will stay true to the classic Jaws. Looks like time will tell.

*Sigh* Another franchise ruined, why the hell should they continue to make sequals even after the dreaded Jaws: The Revenge.

Universal, you officialy suck.

I don't see how this would ruin a franchise that only has one great film in it, there is nothing left to ruin after 3 and 4, hell this would have a fair chance of being better than both those movies.

Well you kinda are right, I might pass on this one though.

We needs Jaws X where thousands of years down they find the body of an old killer shark and bring it to space to examine and than it wakens and eats everyone on board the ship.

They'll go all the way till Jaws 19...Back to the Future called it.

cant be worse then the past few jaws movies..lol

i hope speilberg is involved somehow

The first one was great, second was decent while the rest were terrible. Hopefully this good I doubt it.

How about a Quint prequel, with (KEY WORDS, UNIVERAL, OR IT'S ALL OFF) with Spielberg directing?

Anyone else actually think this could be compareable to the orginal?

Like as they say, people learn from their mistakes. Well i've done some thinking today and this can end up like underated film. I really think now that this can be something big, like a wake up punch to the face to see what this fanchise can still kick in.

i dont think this movie will get anywhere near the original impact and it seems kind of pointless to me.

I dunno, the last few jaws movies werent exactly work of art, but i must admit i enjoyed them, even with some of the ridiculous situations that were portrayed :hehe:

A shark attacking ppl is fun :oldrazz:

Seeing that JAWS is my favorite movie; I can't go into this one with a clear head.

There is undoubtedly a stigma attached to the brilliance of JAWS because of the crappy sequels -I've seen it 1st hand. In the past when I've told people what my favourite film is, I've been greeted with a retort of disbelief. When I actually ask them why they would find this idea so amusing or - most go on to list the flaws of the sequels as if they were in the original.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, any new film isn't going to get anywhere near the original in terms of near perfect excellence (much like SW: Episodes 1,2 and 3) but damn, surely it's gonna be better than 'Revenge' (as crazy as it sounds, I've actually got alot of time for '3' - flaws and all)

Plus, I'd be lying if I havent watched the amazing animatronic sharks in 'Deep Blue See' (the only good thing about that movie) with a touch of jealousy and salivated over the prospect of that technology being utilised to build a state of the art 'Bruce mk.II'.

I can't see Speilberg having anything to do with directing a new Jaws project for as much as he obviously has a love for the original judging by his interviews, Jaws remains one of the most depressing and stressful shoots he's ever had to endure but if he was onboard in a producing capacity, where he could offer advice to whatever director lands the job, I'd be that much more reassured.

I'm intrigued to see where this one goes, I really am............................

:wow: I would totally see that. Sounds like cheesy goodness

'The Indianapolis' I think it would/should be called - although there's probably a grander (more cliche?) title on the cards ('Death in the Water' or something)

The attacks on the survivors were carried out by white tip sharks, and not great whites (just in case anyones confused) so if a movie is made of the incident, imagine lots of smaller sharks as opposed to one really big one a.k.a. Jaws.

Here's an example of a white tip shark:-

They certainly look different than their larger cousin.

Don't forget when they finally blow it up the same way Brodie did in Jaws 1. Only to have the shark re-form with pieces of metal strewn about the ship, forming Uber-Jaws and preparing for the Mecha battle to end the film, and finally Uber-Jason landing near Earth 2's Amity Island.

It'd...be...awesome.

For lack of source info, I don't see cause to be concerned. Even if this is legit, odds are it'll end up a DTV sh**fest that'll be already booked for airing on SciFi the second production wraps. In other words, nobody will remember or care.

Besides, to do a new Jaws movie now would utterly require something radical be done, because every shark movie that's been made SINCE JTR has already stretched the bounds of what is essentially a three-word-plot genre. Never mind that most of their shoddy attempts at characterization are essentially generic knockoffs of Quint (bitter old seaman) and Hooper (technobabbling young scientist), and that even more recent shark movies don't fare much better in the FX department with CGI than Spielberg did with a barely-functioning aquamatronic - the original model Bruce still trumps them all thirty-some years later.

Ah, to hell with it - just let Toho remake the original. If we can be allowed to bastardize one of their classics, they should be allowed to bastardize one of ours.

I'm sorry, as much as I love Bruce and all of his flaws - there is no way he trumps the animatronic Mako's of Deep Blue Sea. In terms of look, texture, movement they were vastly superior to Bruce.

As you'd naturally expect given the evolution of the technology.

I've learned not to expect anything through the evolution of technology, considering that in the space of Jaws and its three sequels - that's a total of twelve years' time - the mechanical sharks actually looked WORSE with each movie. I can't really stamp the animatronic DBS sharks as superior to Bruce mainly because they get subverted by very poor CGI for most of the movie; the sequences with them underwater are even fewer and far between than Bruce's scenes were.

Or, they make him like a half shark half robot cyborg with badass weaponry.

I too agree think if this project does get the green light it will be a DTV garbage fest. I'd rather the move 'MEG' get finished and shown, that project has fallen down the perverbal developmental hell.

It was called The Mission of the Shark: The Saga of the USS Indianapolis.

There is also a documentary re-enactment floating around somewhere too.

Indianapolis movie would be too much like Open Water 4 or something. Its an incredible piece of history but probably a pretty mediocre flick.
