Sorry if theres already a thread about this. But I think it would be a cool little tidbit for you guys to know that Jay named his new album after Kingdom Come. I just thought that was cool. Cheerio.:word:

Somehow I doubt he's calling it Kingdom Come because of the comic book.

Jay and Beyonce appear on a double cover for Rolling Stone magazine, while the full Entertainment Weekly article about Jay-Z's new Album, "Kingdom Come," is online.

Yes, Jay-Z is a man of his word. Except, it seems, when he isn't. In 2002, the rapper declared that his next CD, The Black Album, would also be his last. His future lay not in the beats but in the boardroom. And that ambition became a reality when, in December 2004, he was announced as the new president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. How to explain, then, the news that this fall Jay-Z will release a new CD, Kingdom Come? ''It was the worst retirement, maybe, in history,'' he admits. And then he launches into an impromptu a cappella preview of the title track, which was inspired by a 1996 comic in which Superman comes out of retirement to save the world. The lyrics that effortlessly roll off his tongue may help explain his return: ''Take off the blazer/Loosen up the tie/Step inside the booth/Superman is alive!''

Huh, interesting.

Thats cool. There's alot of rappers who are comic fans.

Yes there are alot of comic fan rappers.

but yeah Jay-Z ****ing sucks.

on a side note. I really need to finish my novel.

I fail to see why this is in the Batman forum

Jay-Z is not, to my knowledge, a comic book fan, and even if he was, we know "kingdom come" did not come from the comic.

And Jay-Z does not suck, let's be real.

90% of music sucks. Jay-Z doesn't.

Well spoken. However, current generation rappers are garbage and damn disgraces to the artform. I'm about to make a song called Bruce Wayne though. I don't know what the hell it's going to be about, but it'll probably be a story dealing w/ an orphan. But yeah, Jay-Z, Nas, OkayPlayer, Common, + Underground = that's it. Anybody know of any famous musicians doing anything comicbook related? Some creative cats out there.

Why is this is the Batman Comics Forum?

you rap?
yeah the Hip-Hop is in shambles, but who's to blame really?
And isn't MF Grimm writing a graphic novel?

it would still fit in more at the Superman forums, seeing as he said it was more about Superman and all...although none of this changes the fact that Jay Z sucks...oh wait, I forgot, he sampled "hard knock life" from little orphan annie in one of his songs, he must be a f**king genius

"hard knock life" was awesome. jay-z is one of the most creative minds in all of music, not just rap. for 8 straight years, he put out dope album after dope album, with at least 4 classics. and to top it off, he doesn't even write his stuff down; he thinks about it and then spits off the top of his head. so, yes, he is a genius.

I think there's some decent rap stuff coming out. Outkast, the Danger Mouse stuff, Goody Mob/Gnarls Barkley/Cee-Lo.
