Jem Movie is getting a Live action movie.

How could anyone think this is a good idea?

This is truly outrageous.

Truly, truly, truly outrageous.

I really think this could work.

In fact, I think a new cartoon could work in the same vein as the other toons on the Cartoon Network.

Was only a matter of time.

But why does it sound like they are not making this take place in the 80s? Taking it out of that decade and into modern time seems like a huge mistake. Would be alot more fun during that time period.

I saw this and said YES, then I read who's directing it :(

I can see them using social networking in the film, like maybe Jem gets big due to Youtube.

I don't know..i think the charm of Jem was that it's so 80's. And honestly 80's without the irony.

I agree, but they need to think about all the young kids who might be turned off by that. Not sure what kind of tone this movie is going to have but something tells me it's going to be like Hannah Montana. To attract the teeny boppers.

I did like in the old cartoon that the dude was basically two-timing and it was never an issue.

I can definitely see that happening.

Yeah, I honestly can't see it taking advantage of everything unless it's in that decade and playing up the culture and style. Especially when bands like that were in their peak.

That would be a shame. 80s still seem to be cool and retro with everyone as far as I can tell.

Honestly, I would urge them NOT to use any real world influences (Katy Perry, Lady Gaga) or use real bands in the film.

Make it timeless. Make it into a alt reality of this world. So that way it doesn't have to obey the threads of today and can do it's own thing. Meaning that it can still have that hair band vibe and be 2014.

That's a good idea.

If it took place in the future that could work as well I think.

To be honest, this is one of the properties that I've been nerd-writing in my head as a reboot for the longest time.

The only major issue in terms of updating it for a modern audience (especially young girls) is that you kind of have to switch the characteristics of the Holograms and the Misfits. The Holograms should now be the edgier, rock-metal group, and the Misfits should be polished, plastic pop idols.

In my ideal world, the Holograms would be a progressive metal band like Dreamtheatre.

Like Pulp Fiction doesn't obey the rules of the 90's; it's a timeless world where the 70's and 90's collide.

Is Disney doing this?

This is truly outrageous.

Truly, truly, truly outrageous.

My hat's off to you, good sir. :woot:

Should be interesting. Thing will either be terrible or have fun with it's world. As long as it's heavily stylized from the source and not from current artists like you said it could be fun.

Like the way you think:up:

Thank you,I love the movie ,and I'm still waiting for a Blu-Ray release.

Well that's kind of inevitable to go along with the movie.

I just hope they go straight to a 5-woman band instead of starting out with 4 (Jemm, Kimber, Shana, Aja + Raya). It used to bug the hell out of me that the Holograms started out with only one guitarist and no bass player.

Jemm also needs to play rhythm guitar in addition to being a singer.

I'm thinking they will go along the lines of a Paramore sounding group. Something like that mixed with a group like Chvrches may work.

Likewise. Would love me some Eva in HD. Taking awhile.

Da f*** is this?!

I guess it was only a matter of time when Jem would get a live action movie.

I'm pretty sure you will be proven correct, as that's pretty much how movie studios work.

But I hope they don't go that route. As good as those artists are, their minimalist nature just doesn't seem to fit Jemm's image somehow.

Also, a lot of musicals and musical movies flop when they try to base themselves on styles of music that are popular now. In the years it takes for the songs for this movie to be written and then for the movie to be released, what teen girls listen to will have radically changed, and anything popular years ago will be really lame.
