Another thing I like about this thread.

We're all praising the choice because he's a great actor. We don't mind the physical discrepancies because he's a really good, Oscar nominated actor. So we're all totally on board.

But then you stroll over to the Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman thread and you see a lot of "I'm willing to give her a chance! Sure she hasn't been in anything good or much of anything except a couple ensemble action movies but we should give her a chance!"

One casting choice is genius because of a proven, award winning/nominated actor while the other is genius because it's a wait and see thing.

Absolutely fascinating.

A lot of people will like the film because they want to like it and liked Man of Steel. If it helps, not all are like that. My stance is, Eisenberg is a good actor, I think he'll look older if he shaved his head, I'm concerned about his voice, but overall he has the talent to back up the role.

Gadot hasn't displayed much discernible acting talent, but has the face for the role.

why can't a shorter Lex pose a threat to the taller/more physically imposing Superman?

depending on how they portray Lex, that would actually make me more interested to see.

This is one of the hooks. Lex has always been shorter than Superman. Again in the comic books Lex is about 5'9 compared to Superman's 6'3. That's exactly the same height difference between Cavill and Eisenberg. If anything this will be the most faithful example of that to date.

I also don't get the age complaints. Nothing wrong with a Lex closer in age with Superman. People act like there wasn't a period of 20 something years in Superman's mythos were Lex and Superboy were childhood friends and that was the era of some of the greatest Superman stories.

this news destroyed me and i was reborn. i 100% support this. you can not get more crazy than this. this will work.

In case anyone missed it. Total Film talked to Jesse Eisenberg about BVS as far back as October.

It's so crazy that it just might be awesome.

I posted that, they cut it of near end which his PR people knew he was contacted?

Does anyone have a problem with Zuckerberg being an influence for Lex? I mean Lex would ****ing *****slap Zuckerberg. All Zuckerberg did was create Facebook. Lex wouldn't even acknowledge him.

This choice is so crazy it's damn near brilliant(IMO).

You know what's REALLY crazy?:awesome:

Rosie O'Donnell as Green Arrow!:awesome:

My ticket would be so bought because it's such crazy, thinking out of the box casting!:awesome:

:awesome:

His height, 5'7", is all that concerns me. I wanted a physically imposing Lex. I feel like at 30, his age is fine. And he had the acting chops, etc.

But, Bane was also played by a man who was 5'9" and looked fierce and intimidating and Tony Stark is played by a guy no taller than 5'9" either....so I'm sure his height won't be an issue if they wanted to make him seem more imposing. He'll never convincingly be a physical force, but they can make it so we take him seriously.

Still, wanted Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt or Joaquin Phoenix for the part. Someone over 6'.

I'll wait and see. It is inspired.

After having a few hours for the news to sink in, I'm definitely leaning more towards the positive side now.

You really don't understand how this whole writing thing works do you?

the only role that will determine if Eisenberg will be good/bad as Lex is Lex.

I was shocked when I first saw the news, but I think it's going to work. He might blow us away ala ledger.

I hope that Eisenberg bulks up. He seems rather skinny. I know Lex doesn't have to be super buff or anything, but Eisenberg looks weedy.

I don't get this "Lex is", stated like one fact. Like with most characters, Lex has and will come in many different variations.

Now your personal preferences for the character is another thing (personally, like with all things, I dig many different versions) but that's not how it is treated as sometimes, and it bugs me.

I understand. I just don't like the idea of the main influence with Lex is the creator of ****ing Facebook.

Eisenberg is the ****ing king and savior of Metropolis. They picked the one guy for Lex who is skinnier than Gal Gadot.

Something tells me he will be kept like that as a contrast to Superman.
