I actually really enjoyed the trailer and am now officially giving a hoot about the film :funny:

:woot: hopefully this one lives up to the trailer for you.

I've been back and forth myself on this project tbh and this trailer is what has gotten rid of my fears. As a Superman first and foremost, I was worried about Batman coming in and stealing the show. Of course this has nothing to do with a dislike of Batman, I love Batman but I don't like how he's pushed in the DCU constantly, yes he's the money maker but that shouldn't mean other characters should have to suffer because of that. Thankfully here it seems that's not the case and the story makes sense.

I love the look in his eyes and that smirk when Supes is kneeling.

Is a Superman clone out of the question? It would make a degree of sense out of that scene, and a few others.

Hm... nice. I think he was angry and resentful for kneeling while Lex was enjoying it, so i think that's Supes himself.

I personally prefer a Superman clone / Bizarro to a monster with spikes (Doomsday). Worst and blandest villain ever.

No, lots of people are theorizing a Superman clone. Though I suspect Supes is kneeling weakened by kryptonite yet defiant. I don't know how Luthor would make a Kal-El clone out of Zod's corpse. More likely that we haven't seen the finale villain yet.

To me, based only on the trailer, Jesse's Luthor seems like a young/post-teenager Gene Hackman's Luthor with a slightly less campy Edward Nygma from Batman Forever thrown into the mix. Not judging his entire performance obviously, that is just the impression the trailer gives me. Jesse was saying how other Luthor's were kinda hammy, well his feels just as much to me. Not feeling it. Was not on board when he was cast but it's looking worse than expected. Hopefully the movie changes my mind. Everything else looks good enough for him to not ruin the whole thing though.

I'm still uncertain about this Luthor. I must say i really did not know what to expect. I'm not disappointed but neither comforted.

He indeed did give me some 'hackman' character expressions, but overall i don't know what to think about him. His hair first of all is something i genuinly dislike. Hair on Lex, ok. A whole 'trying to be a 90's skater-wig' thing is a different thing.

There are moments i like what i'm seeing. He does look threatening in a way - well, above all he looks totally unimpressed with Superman and other 'powerful' people. Which makes him threatening in a way.
The way he's being demeaning towards a kneeled superman is interesting, too - wondering what that scene is all about. Perhaps the kryptonite has something to do with that. You can see Superman's hatred growing or beginning there.

Still, i would have rather preffered an already bald luthor.

I don't hate the 'the red capes are coming' line, but i think it was very very wrong to post that line in the trailer at that specific moment. Music and video grows into expecting some trailer-climax. Instead, we get this - fairly weak - line.

In that aspect 'Why So Serious' or 'Let's put a Smile on that Face' in the Nolan trailers was more powerful.

I love the trailer, but that could have been executed better. Not Jesse's flaw, but the trailer-director's flaw here imho.

either way, i'm not negative on this luthor, but not yet positive.

Based on the trailer, I liked Jesse Eisenberg's take on Luthor. That "the red cape circling, the red cape circling" sounded really creepy. Made him seem very Joker-like evil genius with a not so little hint of lunacy.

Don't... :funny:

I still sometimes watch trailer 3 and feel all nostalgic, because it's a masterpeice and I can still feel the hope and excitement it made me feel back then.

This trailer is no where near that elation, i'm just happy to feel positive about it. The teaser I felt pretty negative about because it all seemed so dark. It was good to see a bit of light in this one.

Yeah it feels pretty well balanced so far :)

Welcome aboard the hype train. :applaud

Woot woot! :D

Yeah I have to agree with this.

I sort of made my peace with the fact i'm not getting the Luthor portrayal I want as soon as they cast him, and from the looks of things, he's going to play the character exactly how I imagined he would.

Doesn't stop me loving the look of the scene where Supes is kneeling at his feet.

It may not be my Luthor, but if the hate in Superman's eyes is anything to go by, he can still be a great, villainous version.

I think the least we can hope is that this Lex's villainy will be more pg13 than Hackman's, even if he's still a bit hammy.

He said the red capes are coming.

Is that like a reference to Green Day and U2's "The Saints Are Coming?" :o

I'm not sure any trailer will ever top MOS Trailer 3, but this BvS trailer is pretty close in terms if awesome.

It really does feel well balanced, I can only see the actual film going the same way.

Anytime something ominous is about to happen I'ma be all, "the red capes are coming."

I actually don't think he says it twice I think they just used it twice for the trailer.

I love that you can hear the pretentious skepticism in his voice when he's delivering that line.

Considering Lex is American probably a "The Red Coats are Coming" reference.

As in... a war is about to start.

To me it sounded like his mocking the notion. First I heard that he says "the red cape circling" and I thought he mocks how bad guys are so scared whenever "the red cape" is on to them. But since it's "the red capes are coming", it's also a reference to the american civil war, when the english red coats were coming? So Lex could see Superman as the red coat, the invading force, only with red cape instead. :P

It could be not only in reference to Superman but the Superman soldiers. Is it possible those Superman soldiers are this universes versions of the Sons of Batman but they follow Supermam instead of Batman?

It's a reference to Paul Revere's famous "warning ride" prior to the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which basically kicked off the American Revolutionary War.

For those who were predisposed to not like Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex, I don't imagine anything in the trailer changed their already made up minds. :oldrazz:

Really though, I think something Snyder said in the panel is germane - this movie is something they made up expressly for the DCEU, it's not an adaptation of a particular book or existing story line. In that respect, I understand the "not my Lex" (or Supes, or Bats, or WW, Lois, etc.) reactions, because just like people love/hate Miller's Batman, say, people are going to love/hate Snyder-Terrio Universe versions of the characters as well.
