BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - - Part 11

Gone are the days: "We want a serious Lex!"

If BvS was anymore serious we'd die of boredom, so thank goodness for that change to his character :o

I'm expecting the next movie to reveal that Lex' real father is The Riddler from Batman Forever.

It's not a fault of poor acting though, just poor decisions regarding the character. Completely in the opposite way of how Snyder has made Superman and Batman divert from the well known images.

You may not be totally off. There are reports coming in today that Eisenberg originally auditioned to play the Riddler in BvS. Suddenly his creative choices make a lot more sense.

If this was the Joker or The Riddler, the character would've made more sense. Not Lex Luthor. As Luthor, it was like Max Landis complaining about Superman being a Gary Stu.

It does make all the more sense now :lmao:

Hey, he's still Jr. If not well received, which I think is why they included that Jr. title in there, they can always get Bryan Cranston to fill the role of the real Lex...

He was great as the crazy character he played but that sure as hell wasn't Luthor.

So are we ever going to get a Lex Luthor in a movie who isn't a whacky hammed up kook?

He's still in the comics and he ain't coming out into live-action anytime soon.

Well at least Spaceys was a cynical prick before things went off the rails.

He's dead. We saw a glimpse of his rad study. But for the most part his snivelling disturbed kid has taken up the family name.

This Lex is awesome. It's a different take on the character but I loved it. You can actually see and feel, Yes Feel how crazy he is. Specially in that scene with Senator Finch at his office :wow: that was scary. He is an imposing character, manipulative and a freaking genius.

did not mind Eisenberg in the movie but calling it an ledger joker impression is insulting to both. he was the most interesting performance by far. The superheroes themselves were not overly memorable despite Affleck trying his best to overcome the motivations inflicted on his character

He'll show up as a clone :hehe:

Snyder is a fan of Christ imagery... Lex the father, Lex the son and Lex the Holy Ghost... The holy trinity. Resurrection after death. It can happen I tells ya! :oldrazz:

Eh, he was the most irksome thing in the film for me.

It might sound silly, but mainly because of the pitch of his voice. I just kept re imagining his lines in the deep STAS Lex style and felt they would have been so so much better. I loved how his character was written, but I just don't really like the casting.

Didn't like him. At all. By the time his last scene came around I was rolling my eyes.

There were glimmers of potential, but then Eisenberg would immediately snap out of it and default right back to manic hyperactive spazzoid.

eh, if it was any other villain ( i was saying from the beginning that eisenberg would've made a great riddler and he basically acted like jim carrey's riddler fused with heath ledger's joker anyway ) i'd say he was great , but that was not lex luthor. that was lex luthor's skinny ass twitchy annoying highpitch voiced little ***** of a long lost brother.

What ... in the name of all that's good in the world ... were they thinking with the whole jar of piss thing?

I'm sorry did you really just say there's something in the movie with Luthor and a jar of piss?

Yeah, there is a moment that involves both those words, though I think that particular moment is actually done pretty well; the tension in the scene builds slowly with it and it's a nice mix of a callback to earlier with the reveal of a scheme.

I'm still a bit undecided in Eisenberg's Lex, going to have to see the film again to be sure. It's either one of the best parts of the film bar none, or a part that has potential and skill, but kind of under shoots in the execution. Yeah, he's definetly more nuts and crazy, but part of me is arguing with the other half right now that this Lex deserves to be hammy because his bite actually matches his ostentatious bark.

I mean, Spacey and Hackman both did a hammy Lex, but were ultimately petty crooks. Rosenbaum played a guy who was clearly more evil because of the combination his resources and ruthlessness made him. Brown played an evolving version of the character; this one feels just a nascent right now.

Yea. There is a scene where Senator Finch is drinking from a jar at the public hearings and Lex left a not on the jar. Holly Hunter did a remarkable job as well :) Top notch performance

I can't even imagine someone being so... weird, as to write a scene like that outside a bad teen comedy...
