Then fanboys would be *****ing about how he's playing the same character yet again.

I just don't want Lex to come across as a neurotic hyperactive.

How? It's easily the most well received interpretation of Lex involving any sort of actor's performance, so it's far from silly that because of that the first type of voice people would associate with the character is the deeper more intimidating voice Brown provided, and a change from that can understandably take getting used to.

Because people aren't willing to try out a new interpretation of the role? Because that was then, and this is now? Because with some ridiculously OTT fans, it's not merely a case of getting used to a new take on the role, but almost violently refusing the accept or acknowledge a new take on the role? You don't see how that could be called close minded?

"It's not what I'm used to, so I'm just gonna throw my toys outta the pram and refuse to accept this!"

I wasn't referring to the people who are vehemently refusing to accept the casting, they're lost causes, I was simply stating a reason for why some could find Jesse's casting jarring.

Well I wasn't. And you replied to me first, so it's your fault for the misunderstanding.

:gngl:

I read somewhere that Superman can be seen in his eyes, so I looked at the photo more thoroughly and it does look like a little man in iconic Superman pose is in his pupils. It's most definitely just trick of the mind though. Similar to Joker's face in Batman's pic or invisible plane in Wonder Woman's.

Trust me, Lex was watching Shirley Temple taking some bows at the time of these pics, he's looking mean but in reality he is a real softy :)

So was he mad because they made him look at the movie? :o

I have to admit, he certainly looks the part.
I was very skeptical of him when he was first cast, but I will try to reserve judgement from here on out until I see his performance.
That said, I do feel a little better about him now tho.

Since a lot of people have noted that Eisenberg resembles the Birthright version of Lex, do you think we'll get any sort of backstory on him where he knew Clark in Smallville? I'm not saying that I'd want that, just curious if anyone thinks that he'll have a history with him (which may or may not be why he lost his hair).

He will have his own lex it will be different but good.

For me, i'd rather that they have never met before. It would be to easy for Lex to know Clark is Superman otherwise. just my opinion and preference.

Reg... I am now and always have been a supporter of Jesse in the role. But I don't expect some kind of deep authorial voice from him, given his track record of roles in the past. I think his acting was spot on for a modern Luthor, but hoping he has a deep voice seems a fool's errand. I wasn't slamming Jesse in the least, just saying that expecting him to sound like James Earl Jones or the like is wishful thinking and may even be a bad fit, since Jesse as a "type" was what they wanted for Lex, and a deep voice may not fit the approach to the character, given the fact of his being cast.
Well I'm sure we are not going to see Zuckenberg. And I don't expect something really deep, but different of course, cause Jesse has range and potential to do something special.
They wouldn't be disappointed if they just accepted that that's the way the guy's damn voice sounds. Honestly, when it's coupled with a demeanor and confidence like the one presented in this promo pic, a soft, quiet voice has the capacity to be even more intimidating than a deep husk. Keaton meet Bale. Besides, there's no unwritten rule that says the Luthor of the comics has a deep voice anyway. It strikes me that people only project that sorta voice because the Luthor of modern day is usually depicted as a big, intimidating looking muscle head.

...like Mike Tyson. :whatever::cwink:

 clearly with DCAU Lex, it's from canon, but there are other interpretations of the character in comics where he wasn't bulky and for that matter his voice won't be as deep as Clancy's. There's also the best liveaction yet, Rosenmbaum and it wasn't that deep, and his face wasn't also like a big thug either. So Luthor's "powers" don't come from his physique but rather his mind and personality.
I think Eisenberg simply speaking slower and more controlled would go a long way.
Agree.

True :funny:

I expect the haven't met. And I think for what Snyder said they won't, but we'll see.

Same here.

Look at the boy trying to be a man! :p

Ah, come on, you! :woot:

I was actually going to say that he looks rather mature right now and especially so when wearing suits. If he ends up looking boyish it will actually be only because they dressed him that way. :funny:

I suppose I shouldn't criticise...just look at me when I'm wearing a suit

Yeah, you should definitely take it to a tailor to redo it for you. It seems a bit tight under the arms.

It's looser than my sister....and that is saying something! :p
