Leave it to Oliver Stone to jump on a controversial, polarizing political subject. Snowden seems like the kind of thing Stone would pounce on.

JGL doesn't look anything like Snowden, IMO, but I think he's a good enough actor for that to not really matter.

I'm curious how Stone would portray Snowden. Depending on who you ask, he's an unfairly persecuted heroic whistleblower, or a security-compromising traitor, or somewhere in between (which is usually where the truth actually lies).

I am curious to see how he reaches the decision to defect to Russia, an authoritarian state known for its mass surveillance and censorship.

For some reason I am now picturing JGL in some silly disguise from a costume shop having a clandestine meeting with Snowden in a terminal in Moscow Airport to discuss the role. And later making an animated musical Hit RECord short film about it that Zooey Deschanel finds her way into somehow.

It just seems like something I wouldn't put past JGL.
