Annie Remake

I enjoyed the movie a lot. Never saw the original Annie or the 90s remake so I don't have an attachment either way. Wallace was wonderful.

Other movies that were leaked were Fury (but luckily this has been in theaters for a while), Still Alice, Mr. Turner, and To Write Love on her Arms

It's funny because I had little desire to see this at all and even with the leak being right there i still could care less.

I'm reading some of the early critics' reviews... not good.

Not surprised and kind of glad. The trailers for that film looked awful and I got sick of having to sit through them in the theater.

I wasn't expecting a great movie either. I like Ms. Wallis, shame that she got stuck with a bad director and supporting cast.

But what really put me off was Cameron Diaz as Ms. Hannigan. She doesn't really sell the nasty part of Ms. Hannigan like Carol Burnett did. And she looks too well put-together to qualify for welfare.

Hopefully the next time a studio wants to make an Annie film they move past the Broadway show and come up with an original story. Personally I would love to see a motion capture film done like Adventures of Tin Tin.

A lot of toxic NSFW comments on THR's negative review of the film. I'm not going to link to it, but you can find it from the main page.

are you surprised?
This whole talk about this movie has been racial since it was first announced with Willow Smith way back.
It's really annoying to hear this being called the "urbanized" version or the black version

I know, but it's a whole another level when the Drudge Report links to that review, where the numerous comments are truly nasty. Mostly racial, but political snark as well.

I'm just going to leave it at that.

I assume Jamie and Rose get together at the end, no one had any issue with that?

I loved Easy A and Friends with Benefits. Wouldn't call Will Gluck a bad director in the slightest. Everyone has missteps.

I saw some of it today... not too bad, but "Night at the Museum 3" was more entertaining. Will Gluck, like Clint Eastwood, can not stage musical sequences to save his life. The remixed classic songs are okay, but the new songs are just forgettable.

Diaz was painful to watch... Carol Burnett could teach her a thing or two about being mean and funny. And let's not forget the endless parade of random cameos like Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Rihanna, et al. The whole movie just makes me go "meh."

I saw it today. I thought it was really fun even though only jamie foxx can sing.

Loved cameron, she was classy in this even when she was a bit of a bogan.

Love the new Annie actress. So sweet and she did a great job of modernising her but maintaining her essence. She is definitely a future star.

Rose Byrne was good but can't sing but at least she had a go. I would happily see more films like this

Saw this a few days ago. I loved it. It's very flawed, but the relationship between Annie and Stacks felt so genuine, and the actors were so good. It's easily my favorite version of Annie.

Yeah, it's definitely the most developed Annie/Stacks relationship to date.

Heck, John Huston, one of the all-time great directors, directed the original Annie and it was terrible too.

I find it funny that if a movie is remade with a black cast replacing the original's white cast and the movie does bad that its because white ppl are racist yet could you imagine the uproar if they made a movie version of the cosby's but they made it an all white cast?. There would be riots saying we're horrible ppl that want to make everything white blah blah blah.

I dont think this movie did bad because of the black cast.
I think the leak hurt it a lot and the buzz wasnt that good.

Mojo didn't say this film did bad. Considering it is Christmas season, it should be "fine".
