The Dark Knight Jim Gordon Email

Well we've been able to find documents on gothampolice.com/secureinternaldocuments

so maybe there'll be something new there.

One of these clues has to lead to some part of the investigation. Why else would WE have gotten emails from Gordon?

And why else would there have been a bistro site, at all?

They just added more emails to barhyte's account on the 24th. None made any mention of the investigation. That makes me think that we might not get any more in regards to it. Especially since there wasn't even a reply to gordon in this last batch.

Time will tell, I suppose.[/quote]

Or could it be that he has a seperate MCU account? I mean, it would make sense to have seperate accounts for different departments. Can anyone PM me if anything big happens tonight? I'm going to be away for a the majority of the night. Gotta go fight crime...

I'll try to keep you in mind if anything does.

FYI, SID =/= IAD

Unless the investigation hasn't taken place. Or, perhaps the mention of the investigation itself was meant to be a clue to lead us to the bistro. Which was specifically mentioned in Gordon's email to Barhyte.

And why else would there have been a bistro site, at all?

It's pretty obvious why there would have been a bistro site: to point us to the next joker related viral.

- Gordon's email to select few on the mailing list prompted those of us who received it to check:

- Barhytes inter-office email. (Barhyte is a member of the MCU taskforce - the division of GCPD for which the email was intended.) That, in turn, clued us in to the fact that we needed to look for a bistro.

- GCN had a short segment featuring Pasquale. Pasquale = Italian = Bistro.

- Both the Barhyte email and the GCN segment lead to the discovery of Pasquale's Bistro.

- Pasquale's has a menu item named after Salvatore Maroni. Sal "Mob=Money Laundering" Maroni. Thus confirming that we've got the right place.

- Dialing the number to Pasquale's tells us that we need a 5 digit PIN number to access administrator voicemail.

- New Joker picture texts, in correlation to a new edition of the hahaha times lead us to a new site - whysoserious.com/redballoons.

- Solving of the riddle on redballons leads us to the inept lackeys, romeo, opera, verdi.

- Verdi allows us to access the voicemail of "Frenchie." Unknown male speaking tells us that Fred is dead in the river, So he and Razzolio won't be "stuffing their faces with crepes" on sunday night, but rather, will be picking up their 13 "pastries" monday night.

- Referrence of this voicemail can be found back on "ineptlackeys" where we discover that poor stevie and romeo screwed the pooch, and are now "sittin' pretty with smiles on their faces."

The end....... but not really.

Where this will lead, and what will lead us to it, is pure speculation at this point. Will there be a "stake-out, surveillance, or wiretaps?" Who knows. But what we do know, is that this part of the viral ended with the Joker literally having the last laugh.

Now, we'll just have to wait untill the next wave of clues goes out to see where this is headed.

The end..... for real this time.

there. that wasn't hard, now was it?

Ridiculously unlikely. Barhyte is in the GCPD. Doesn't matter what division. It would make absolutely zero sense to have more than one work related account for the same individual.

baker's dozen doesnt mean 13. It's slang for a particularly brutal beating.

yeah it can mean that - but it would seem that these guys are looking for a pickup of laundered money (or whatever).

Who knows - we'll find out at some point!

sure, it's a brutal beating. if you say so. whatever. but a baker's dozen is most commonly known as thirteen instead of twelve. as in, donuts, pastries, bagels, muffins, so on, so forth.

so, yes. it does mean 13.

P.S. in this particular case, I doubt very much that they'd stop by on monday night for their "pastry box of brutal beatings."

That's why I wonder if Pasquale is actually in the mob...
It sounds more like a demand for more money.
"We want more this time, or it's gonna be a beating"...

I would most definitely agree with that. They want a little supplemental income - it could even be the key to tracking the laundered money down.

Nah.

To be honest.... I've never, ever heard of baker's dozen being slang for a brutal beating. Even when you google it, all you come up with is referrences to baking.

from wikipedia:
The oldest known source and most probable origin for the expression "baker's dozen" dates to the 13th century in one of the earliest English statutes, instituted during the reign of Henry III, called the Assize of Bread and Ale. Bakers who were found to have shortchanged customers could be liable to severe punishment. To guard against the punishment of losing a hand to an axe, a baker would give 13 for the price of 12, to be certain of not being known as a cheat. Specifically, the practice of baking 13 items for an intended dozen was to prevent "short measure", on the basis that one of the 13 could be lost, eaten, burnt or ruined in some way, leaving the baker with the original dozen. The practice can be seen in the guild codes of the Worshipful Company of Bakers in London.

Common sense tells me that Pasquale is the front man of the business. He's wears the public face while Maroni runs his operations out of the back door. Why Maroni? Because his name is on the menu. We've seen the same thing with Rossi's Delicatessen. Candoloro was a co-owner. His name was also on the menu. In fact, it's commonplace for most privately owned resturaunts to have a dish on the menu named after or referred by the owner.

This isn't about a beating. It's about a pick-up. Even the Joker confirms this in the "inept lackeys" note.

It IS Salvatore that was on the menu. Not Maroni.
As far as it being slang.. I ignored that bit. What I listened to was the tone and inflections of the speaker...

"Make it a baker's dozen this time, Capiche?"
It's used in a tone that seems threatening.
I do know that they mention the Crepes thing in the voice mail..
on the menu is
"Crepes Casino"...

Laundered Money...
Crepes...
Bakers Dozen...
Capiche?

Well the Crepes Do come With Any Filling Of Your Choice (Pending on what The Waitstaff Says) - Maybe theyll be Stuffed With Something

Interestingly enough - all three Dishes/Pastries Of the Mob Members Went by First name:

Carmine's Coconut Cream - Coconut filling topped with whipped cream, a favorite of our best customers.

Joe's Favorite - An 8oz sirloin cooked to order and 3 fantail shrimp, breaded and fried.

Les Pommes Frites du Salvatore -The classic French fry, reinterpreted and reinvented.

Come to Think Of It, That Sounds Like a Hell Of a meal!

hell yeah...
dude...
We're missin' out, here!!

Although I'm bothered by the translation of "Les Pomme Frites du Salvatore"
"The Fried Apples of Salvatore"....

To "give a man a baker's dozen," in a slang sense, means to give him an extra good beating or pummeling.

And accordingly,
www.havemann.com/modern_slang.html

"BAKER'S DOZEN. This consists of thirteen or fourteen; the surplus number, called the inbread, being thrown in for fear of incurring the penalty for short weight. To "give a man a baker's dozen," in a slang sense, means to give him an extra good beating or pummeling."

I googled it. :p

we know the cops know about the bistro.
we know the mob is laundering money out of the bistro..

Now all we need is the wire-taps.

there's got to be associated content inside barhyte's emails regarding the number of the gp######### wiretap.

gotham tonight posted the number leading to the arrest of rossi. perhaps we'll need to review last week's and tomorrow's episode.

interesting. frenchie, then, isn't pasquale?

No. I think we all agreed Pasquale=Frenchie.

We were discussing whether or not Frenchie is has mob-ties, as it relates to the use of slang...
Would the mob be comin' after Frenchie for a "Baker's Dozen". First we need to verify a use of slang term. In this instance: cockney.

I say Frenchie/Pasquale is not directly related to the mob. Just happens to be the poor sucker they're using for a front. And he did something wrong.
Just like Fred.
