I figured I'd create this thread because, lets be honest, its a huge point of contention for a lot of us and I feel bad that the main thread is likely going to overcome with this conversation until the movie comes out, so maybe we can discuss it here and leave the main thread for....other stuff lol

So it seems pretty much official that this'll be a swift 120 mins...which actually is not even 2 hours of movie time. I'm not honestly not happy about this at all and while its by no means a fatal blow, its a sucker punch nonetheless. What do you guys think?

I'm more than happy with 2 hours but is also be happy with anything up to 2 hours and 20 mins, but longer than that I'm not sure.

YEY. I am almost 30, I skipped BR2049 because of run time, I just want to sit there at the end of 40h work week and be entertained. Bring it!

I'm 33 so maybe that's why I can't hack the lengthy run times anymore :funny:

What I said on the other thread :

I think the complaints are about personal enjoyment of the film, which is why we are here at the end of the day. Most of us understand the financial/critical benefits of having a shorter runtime.

Can the film be good at 2hrs? Sure. But would I take a similar quality film that has 20more minutes over it? Yeah. We fanboys take all we can get.

When both the Avengers movies, MOS, WW, BB were all longer than by 20 mins, its an understandable complaint. Its not the end of the world. But its a valid nitpick.

I'm trying to wrap my head around all thr stuff Whedon must have cut out to get the film that short. We all know Snyder probably shot a 2hr40 min film at least. What could have been so disposable? Are we gonna be deprived of small character moments like Barry talking to his dad?

Wait what? What does age have to do with run times? I'm almost 30 too, and I loved Blade Runner 2049 from beginning to end. If a movie is good, and has a nice flow to it, you usually shouldn't feel the runtime if it's long.

Are people really still gonna ignore that Snyder was the one who wanted to make changes to the film?

Believe me dude. Snyder didnt tell Whedon to make this an hr and t0 mins. This was either Whedon or the studio telling Whedon to keep it under 2 hours.

We dont know this actually. Only BvS and Watchmen are 2/7 films that are over 2hr30mins.

My guess based on nothing? I think they were going for Avengers/MOS runtime, but have chickened out and cut out all the side stuff/some of the character beats in the first half, streamlining it into a 2hr movie.

Based on what?

Because Snyder has four movies on his resume that are under two hours.

Dude, I work in Appeal courthouse. I divorce people, I read about butchered birth deliveries and horrific accidents each day. Trust me, I'm tired. Watching a movie above 2h is heroic effort on my part :funny: I just want to sit there, not be bored and cheer with my co-workers at hot dudes.

This is awesome runtime for us,

Oh if you said that from the beginning I would've understood where you were coming from lol. All I read was "I'm 30, so I can't watch long movies after the work week."

I'm happy for you that this is more your speed. I'll be fine with the run time to, just as long as the film itself is good.

I think "I'm almost 30" is tragic enough to justify the rest here :P

Im 30 and I can sit through a long movie as long as a) the movie's engaging 2) I'm not watching it late at night haha. I cant be doin these midnight showings no more.

Is it definitely 2 hours???

Some reports have it at 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Because Snyder has four movies on his resume that are under two hours.

Based on films from the same cinematic universe and his last 3 films.

Never mind this is conceptually the biggest DC film ever made. It’s highly unlikely a direct follow up to two 2.5 hour movies, with more significant characters (new and old), are going to be featured in a reduced runtime of roughly 20%. By design.

IF this it true, it’s blatantly obvious the studio once again got cold feet and made the necessary trims for a more mainstream friendly run. Which is unfortunate.

And its not even like the actual movie itself is 2 hours. We're talking 2 hours including credits and credits are 10 mins long. Like, really? They really couldnt have bothered to make this 2hr 10/15 mins?

A long runtime doesn't automatically equal epic. Sometimes a long movie is just a long movie.

 exactly, I'm shocked some of the stuff I've read on here today tbh

I couldn't be more nay if I was to express my greatest disliking for something beyond disappointment & sadness to the end of the world for any given reason.

Run-time means nothing to me. I actually can't believe people are all up in arms about it to the point of entire main thread domination. Once I'm into a movie, everything else fades and all that's left is the determination of like or disliking it. It really doesn't go much deeper than that. I like going to the late showing so at least this means I'll get home at a decent time.

Yup and I don’t sit there after thinking about the run time. After I think about how much I liked or disliked a film.
