Though he was scheduled take the reins of DC’s Supergirl as the series’ new regular writer beginning with issue #7 in June, the solicitations for Supergirl #8 list Joe Kelly handling the writing duties.

According to both Rucka and sources at DC, Kelly will be the series new writer, taking over for Rucka.

When asked about the change, Rucka told Newsarama:

"It's such a mixed blessing for me. I hate having to walk away from the book before I even got underway, but the fact is my commitments for the coming year have passed the ‘overwhelming’ stage and reached ‘apocalyptic flood’ stage. Between Checkmate, 52, Supergirl and something like three novels to be written in the next eight months, something had to give, and, sadly, it was Kara who got the axe. I hate having to let the book go, but that's the way it shook out.

"The good is, of course, that Joe Kelly is taking over, and he is, in all ways, outstanding. His ideas are amazing, and his take on Kara will be something the fans are going to love."

The solicitation for the issue reads:

Written by Joe Kelly
Art by Ron Adrian & Norm Rapmund
Cover by Joe Benitez and Victor Llamas
The Kandor saga continues in this story written by Joe Kelly (ACTION COMICS) and art by Ron Adrian (BIRDS OF PREY) & Norm Rapmund. This issue begins with the marriage of Supergirl and ends with a battle to the death against Power Girl! Retailers please note: This issue is resolicited. All previous orders are cancelled.
Resolicited; on sale July 19 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Look for more from Kelly and Supergirl editor Eddie Berganza about the changeup later this week at Newsarama.

what do you mean which?

We have a Supergirl in this title, and another one in LOSH, are they the same Supergirl?

They are the same Supergirl, and Kelly's taking over as the writer for her solo series, Waid's still got LOSH

I'm sure they'll explain how she can be in the future with the Legion and in the past at the same time. When your talking about Time travel, anything's possible.

it'll be interesting to see what happens... especially with the surprise ending to the first issue of SATLOSH

Maybe she really is dreaming them. Man, that would suck.

The Supergirl in the 30th century could be a Kara who is ten years older.

How's that now? I don't remember anything about her being ten years older.

I'm not saying she is, but she could be.

With Time Travel anything is possible.

That's how Supergirl could be dead in pre crisis, but still in the Legion.

So... she went to the future before the Crisis on Infinite Earths and then went back in order to die? Barry Allen did that.

wheres your sig from?
It's from last week's Captain America issue. Cap wades into a group of cyborg soldiers and beats them all while they're shooting at him.
