John Carpenter's The Thing.

I was watching my DVD late last night, and Jesus Christ, it still is a f***ing great movie.
Seriously, I've seen it like 14 times.
Everything about the movie is so perfect, IMO.

Great acting and dialogue? Check.
Incredible SFX (all practical)? Check.
Creppy as all hell creatures? Check.
Genius Morricone soundtrack? Checkity check check check!

You feel that the characters actually know each other, and you get them know a lot about them too.

There's a real sense of danger and paranoia throughout the movie.

Seriously, all these silly "slasher with hot guys/girls" flicks from the last 10 years or so seem even more stupid after re-watching a masterpiece like JC's The Thing.

Easily one of my favorite horror/sci-fi movies ever, up there with Cronenberg's The Fly and Alien

It would only end with tears and a scratched DVD with hundreds of fingerprints

You lend him/her stuff like Carebears or Stealth or Superman 3

Funny, That happened to me with my copy of Halloween. lol
