I was watching my DVD late last night, and Jesus Christ, it still is a f***ing great movie.
Seriously, I've seen it like 14 times.
Everything about the movie is so perfect, IMO.

Great acting and dialogue? Check.
Incredible SFX (all practical)? Check.
Creppy as all hell creatures? Check.
Genius Morricone soundtrack? Checkity check check check!

You feel that the characters actually know each other, and you get them know a lot about them too.

There's a real sense of danger and paranoia throughout the movie.

Seriously, all these silly "slasher with hot guys/girls" flicks from the last 10 years or so seem even more stupid after re-watching a masterpiece like JC's The Thing.

Easily one of my favorite horror/sci-fi movies ever, up there with Cronenberg's The Fly and Alien

Awesome film that I let a person borrow who I don't want see anymore so now I have to plot to get it back :(

You don't let a person "borrow" a film like JC's The Thing :(
It would only end with tears and a scratched DVD with hundreds of fingerprints :( :down

You lend him/her stuff like Carebears or Stealth or Superman 3 :cmad:

NO SOUP FOR YOU!

A good sci-fi/horror flick but was a little confusing.Especially MacCready didn't know where Childs went at the end

Amazing movie...one of the few that have truly terrified me.:(

I love this movie. Love, love, it. I remember watching it for the very first time...thought I was going to hurl. Very good..great creature FX. Like the directing and music too, my fav John Carpentar movie.

A great fan site with tons of info (inlcuding deleted scenes not on the DVD!)

:( I just checked the site..it had server problems. What you see is the rough site back from 2004. However, looks like all the info about the deleted scenes are still there.

Reading it right now

Great movie. As close to perfect as Carpenter has gotten.

Wonderful flick and Kurt looks super foxy in the beard

*growl*

The atmosphere, the paranoia, the suspense, the intrigue, the S/FX, character dialogue and scenery....It's all absolutely stunning.

"You Gotta Be F%@!#$ Kidding Me!"

It is perhaps the best horror movie of all time. Whenever teenagers come into Blockbuster looking for a horror movie this is the one I try and get them to rent.

I love how it's left open-ended. I wonder what happened?
