Why is 'Die Hard' so perfect?

I forget, who was supposed to bring what to the barbecue?

Die Hard was awsome

Die Hard 2 was boring and the villian was lame

Die Hard 3 was awsome

Yeah, the second one was basically a rehash of the first, but the third was a nice change of pace.

2 Had Its Moments But Was Largely Forgettable. Plus I Think I Watched Good Times Too Long To Swallow John Amos As A Bad Guy.

There are better action films though, it's quite good, but it's not exactly perfect.
can you watchi die hard with your kid? yes
can you watch die hard with your parents? yes
can you watch die hard with your gf/partner/whatever? yes
can you make out during die hard? yes
can you have sex during die hard? yes
can you quote die hard line for line? yes

how many other action movies can you do that with?

What about cinematography? Character design and development? Skill of editing? Original narrative? Interesting narrative structure? Challenging nature? Style? etc...

I think I watch films for something more than you, but I guess it does fill your criterion for a good film. But Lethal weapon films have the same properties.

I think Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is one of the best films to watch on a first date, as it's great for lines, acting, cinematography, editing and narrative structure and design. Not one of my fav films by any stretch, but very good for those things.

I Think Lethal Weapon Is, At Best, On Par With Die Hard. It's No Better, No Less.

But there are much deeper and better action films, and as films go in general, Die hard is by no means perfect!

Maybe not. But it's highly enjoyable & has remained so for 17 years, so that's something. How many movies did you STILL like 17 years later? Some movies lose their appeal after 2 or 3 years.

See, for me, Die hard is one of those films that lost it's entertainment value after a third veiwing. I watch about a film a day, and have seen quite a few films that are worse, but seen a lot more that are better, that are re-watchable, there are quite a few films i've just had to rewatch straight away after a first veiwing, die hard never made me wanna do anything like that.

Good for you! Because lord knows your opinion is king.

Well surely something being perfect is universal and indisputable, so Die hard can't be perfect as it is not universally agreed upon, so i'm welcome to my subjective veiwpoint as much as everyone else.

I'll add you to my fan club eh? lol

Actually, Cyrusbales, I've found you to be very tolerant & respectful of the opinions expressed on this thread; you just clearly don't share them.

Thanks, I do feel like I may come across as disrespectful, but I try not to be, I never insult people, sometimes i'll insult films though! After i've argued my cases enough, I usually end up agreeing to disagree. :) Cheers

And what have you really said about Die Hard? It wasn't your cup of tea? Oh-that's scathing!

Well, I proved it wasn't perfect by definition, lol.

So since it wasn't your cup of tea, that's a flaw?

Well for something to be pefect, it cannot be questioned that it is perfect, as ambiguity is a flaw for something perfect. As I don't think the film is perfect, it means it cannot be perfect. Same goes for everything, if one person doesn't like it, it's not perfect. It can still be very good, but not perfect, It's just a little 'beef' i have with the phrasing of the thread, lol
