Anybody see tonights Daily Show? Jon gave Chris Mathews all kinds of hell tonight about Chris new book.:wow: :wow:

well...then no, no I didnt see it :o

Who is chris mathews? can somebody give me a rundown on what happend?

youtube link?

Comedy Central doesn't allow their stuff on YouTube, Daily Show is replaying about 5 times/day though so you could probably see it again.

Jon will almost always rip on someone like that, it's his job to find the stupidity in politics and poke fun at it. He's not afraid of offending these people that's why the Daily Show and Colbert Report are popular and why they win Emmys

Stewart ripped Matthews a new ass-hole last night and smiled while he did it. It was fun to watch and Matthews deserved it. I hope he had a stroke in the Green Room after the show.

While I thought Stewart bashing Mathews' book was funny, I think Mathews does have a point. I know what Stewart was getting at, that there's a fine line between doing something that's right and doing something that would make you win. But I do think that there needs to be some sort of strategy in order to get what you want. Maybe I'll look into the book.

i'll watch it over lunch. i tivo it every night.

I love Jon Stewart. I just now saw the clip and I was laughing my butt off. I almost feel sorry for the Chris Matthews guy. Almost.

I saw it, Chris Matthews laugh creeps me out.

Now if only Jon would go after Lou Dobbs. That guy keeps beating the immigration drum. He's a broken record.

i just watched it and man, i was laughing so hard my eyes were watering. this was one of the better episodes i've seen in a while. great stories and jokes throughout.

I saw it, Chris Matthews laugh creeps me out.

ditto.

Yeah the interview was really uncomfortable. I like Chris Matthews though, he's got a good sense of humor and more patience with people than I'd have. I agree, his laugh is extremely creepy though.

Agreed if you are truly listening then that is cool, but if you are just listening for the sake of getting some poon, then that isn't cool.

The interviews are the Daily Show do make me wanna read some of these books, but reading things like that always make me sleepy, cause while the interview is interesting the actual book is really boring.

I love Stewart, but any time he wants to get down from that pedestal would be great. Lately he has just been coming off as preachy. It is easy to play the Monday morning quarterback. If he really thinks the system is so bad, he should do something to change it. He has the following, he has the money, he could do something about it instead of just *****ing.

^like run for office? that doesn't seem likely.

Run for office, financially back a candidate he likes, use his publicity to rally behind a cause. Do something instead of just sitting on his high horse *****ing.

i guess i don't see it as "sitting on his high horse". he's a satirist and he's damn good at it, but i don't think he'd even consider running for office. politics tend to rot your soul and he doesn't strike me as the type of person who'd put up with all the bull**** that goes along with it. i'd love to see him back a candidate (most likely a dem or a moderate repulbican, if there were a viable one), but i think he's shooting for more of an outsider/centrist role in the political arena and if he did end up backing someone, then the other side would focus on his bias.

Stewart IS making a difference right where he is by raising awareness of the ridiculousness that occurs in both parties and in our system as a whole. I'd say he's probably doing more to turn people's attention to these things than probably anyone else, too. He's doing just fine where he's at.

The awesome thing about his situation. Is everybody in politics, & news think that he is a joke. So he is more, or less getting a message across, while at the same time flying low, because all the higher ups don't take him seriously.

He's an entertainer. Some of us are entertained by high horse b****ing. When you're not, you change the channel, to watch "Total Recall", or "Three's Company", or "Nova".

Also, you said he should financially back candidates.
I would be blown away if he doesn't.
You don't think he contibutes financially to political groups or organizations that are working for change?
I'd be amazed to find out he didn't.

This is kind of a funny post because you're sort of high horse-b****ing about how he only talks and complains and never does enough with real world impact for change, and yet, I'd seriously wager he's donated more money to good causes than you'll ever see in your life time.

I don't know, but I'd bet.
