Judge Orders Bakery to Serve Gay Couple

The problem with that is that the bible has a lot of historically documented events in parts of it. So people assume the whole thing is absolute truth, even though it was never meant to be read that way.

So it's like Watchmen then? :oldrazz:

BUT TEH HARRY POTTER TEACHES OUR KIDS TEH WITCHCRAFT!!!! :argh:

Human Torch,...there is not point in debating this with The Question, he's trying to engage in semantic, losing forest for trees gaming debating. I think he knows the Bible is to be read with genuine heart, but he is choosing not to do so to exercise his intellectual muscle in this thread.

Yeah,I mean,it's pretty obvious what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Trying to go by Question's logic,it's like my saying 'Question, don't kill anyone with a baseball bat. It's a sin.' Then he comes back a half hour later saying "Oh don't worry,I'm good.I killed a guy with a shovel."

That reasoning is just laughable.A little common sense goes a long way.

Yeah, it isn't like that even a little bit.

Since there are literally hundreds of interpretations leading to many different sects of the same religion, your comment couldnt be more ridiculous. It is FAR from "clear" or "obvious" what the texts say about a lot of things.

Actually that sounds a lot like your reasoning. Sinning is ok if you seek forgiveness, but not if your sin is being gay. And yes, it is quite laughable.

Yeah, you should totally get some.

Also, here's something very interesting on the subject of the Bible's "clear" stance on homosexuality:

11 But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: 12 For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

- Matthew 19:11-12

Why is this relevant? Well, one of the three types of eunuchs that Jesus mentions are "eunuchs who were born thus from their mother's womb." This is relevant because all contemporary Jewish and Roman sources that use the phrase "born eunuch" or "natural eunuch" do not refer to someone born with a genital defect, but instead refer to a perfectly healthy man who felt no sexual attraction towards women, who were in fact sexually repulsed by women, and many such sources describe these "born eunuchs" as in fact being sexually attracted to other men.

Basically, evidence strongly suggests that "born eunuch" was the term for "homosexual" (a word that didn't exist until the 1800s) way back during the time of Christ.

If Jesus is using the phrase the same way everyone else in his time and in his part of the world used the phrase, then in this passage he's saying that it's okay to be gay.

Here's a nice breakdown of the translation and the historical context:

Well If the bible is obvious about homosexuality, then it is written for a god that I obviously do no want to follow. I cannot in good conscious worship a god who promotes hatred and intolerance against your fellow man for a harmless act that impacts nobody outside of the bedroom.

I thought that Mormon guy who read from the magic gold plates only he could decipher should've cleared most of this up

He tried but no one listens to him.

I heard that only 144,000 people will be allowed into Heaven, is that true?
