Im pretty sure that dinos like T-Rex, Raptors, etc couldnt make it across the ocean by swimming

I don't know about Isla Sorna, but dinosaurs could have escaped from Isla Nublar. This could be a major thing from the first novel that could be played out.

in the second book they attacked in a river by a swimming t rex (I think that's what inspired the spinosaurus river attack in JP3). It's movements were described as being being very serpentine, like a snake on the surface of the water. anyway, as for cast, I would love if they got Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum back, as I loved their interactions in the first one.

It could always be possible some crazy environmentalist who wanted the dinosaurs to be free and live in the wild could have been smuggling eggs and smaller animals off to the mainland to set them free again.

The idea of a dinossaur apocalypse actually sounds good, Jurassic Park III has kind of been foreshadowing that, it doesn't have to be more Rexs in big cities, just the jurassic world clashing with the modern world

That was somewhat part of the plot for Jurassic Park: The Lost World

It was like a teenie sub plot on the side...which is why the movie sucked. I wanted the Rex's to eat Vince Vaughn.

They were actually floating down the river and the Rex was popping out of the bushes that surrounded the river. He didn't swim after them.

In the first book it did while they are on the lake. The only reason they survive is that the juvenile T. rex tries to steal a previous kill from the adult on the shore and the adult leaves Grant and the kids to chase it away.

For me I still don't want to play let's have dinos on mainland deal. That is why like I said my idea of an extinticion event on the island is the trigger for why any one returns to island. And we can easily then get any one from main casts back, have the kids now running igen out of the control of there uncle and then like I mention the twist big rreveal is rival corp been mucky on the island trying to create there own dinos and there experiments is what harming/killing the island dinos.

I quite like this idea. If im honest im not bothered about most of the cast from the 1st 3 returning except either Sam Neil of Jeff Goldblum or both. although having Tim running IGEN could be a good idea.

The first book, and the horrifying account of compys killing young children, etc - I dunno, I think that'd be an interesting way to go. It's different. The animals are, with no direct help from man, are escaping the island. The Rex was brought over for InGen's financial gain.. that's different.

But what does Universal want? A monster movie? Because that's what this will turn into. You can't catch the "wonder" and "amazement" with dinos anymore.

Yeah, that part of the book could be very interesting if used in the next film, with the dinossaurs for some reason being able to escape the island.

I like the idea of the dinosaurs having developed something akin to the Bubonic Plague from lack of proper nutrients. I don't recall the explanation verbatim, but in the novels, the dinosaurs in Isla Nublar had a very specific diet for some reason or another.

The movie would be split between the mainland and Nublar, where the data to synthesize a cure would be located. Nublar wasn't destroyed in the movie verse, was it?

The dinosaurs had a gene turned off that produced an amino acid, lysin I think, which is an essential building block of life. They were given this amino acid through their diet. If they escaped, they would not have the a.a. and would die. It was called the Lysin Contingency in the book I do believe.

And it failed, which is one of the plot points of the book.

Thats what I want to see. We already have 3 movies based on the island, which is getting kinda boring IMO. Have the dinos come into civilization .

They were bred females to prevent breeding, that failed. They were bred lysine deficient, which failed. And the creatures themselves had illnesses they were never able to explain.

No, i don't think isla nublar was destroyed in the original films.

Seconded. I don't mind at one point maybe them returning to island because it's the source of a disease or they have to find something there to stop a disease, but i think the idea of Dinossaurs as monsters and plaguing modern civilization sounds awesome.

I think it'd be neat to have a scene set in a little village nestled in a valley. Forested mountains rising up to either side of it. A blanket of mist covers the village. A pair of carnotaurus are stalking about, using the mist as cover to supplement their chameleon-like abilities as they hunt their human prey.

They should end the next one with Arnold as Mr. Freeze & he shows Batman him making his own Ice Age & he just freezes everything that looks like a Dinosaur

Yeah, they all eventually turned into monster movies at some point. I think maybe having a few of the more genial herbivores around to contrast that would probably help. Not like as team pets as I said before, but maybe just there attempting to survive alongside the humans from the predators stalking them.

Shred I still think taking dinos to main land will just get us a cheesy godzilla/jp 2 rip and not much of a film I want to see. Where a problem with dinos dying of mysterious caauses and some washing up to mainland. As I saaid brings a good logical reason for igen and others to go back to island. What's the point in bring dinos/dinos showing up on mainlaand really have to story. Besides protect the humans and kill the dinos. Where my idea would bring in a save the dinos, a mystery to unrival, and then corp stealing if the twist is as I said a once old rival sneaking onto island for experiments.
