Jurassic Park IV - Part 1

I wonder if Speilberg will end up directing this himself in the long run ? Especially with the smaller development window

Three things I want to see in JP4:

- T-Rex needs to be the star again.

- No Spinosaurus. Okay, maybe a cameo, but that's it.

- The Dilophosaurus needs to come back

I'd actually prefer neither Goldblum or Neill to go back to the island. I mean, how many times can they be tricked into going back? If they want to do a cameo, fine, but I'd actually rather see a new lead actor and actress for the franchise.

Why would anyone want them back? Did they not see Jurassic Park 2 and 3? Terrible movies. Well, actually, the 3rd one was okay... for a TV movie.

But yeah, these characters, or rather the specific actor's take on them have run their course. Time for something new.

I love Sam Neil but there's no reasonable way to put his character in this position again. New characters are fine, cameos from old cast welcome.

Hammond could be the connective tissue JP4 needs and the rest all new.

On paper, that sounds great, but he hasn't really been doing well on the blockbuster front for a while. "The Lost World", "War of the Worlds", "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" were all successful, but they weren't well received. Do you think he could turn it around with JP4?

Speilberg has more hits then misses even in the past decade. Lost World was way back in 97, it overall sucked but it does feature some amazing suspense scenes. We all know whos to blame for Indy4. Personally I thought War Of The Worlds was awesome. Hes one of the best directors out there period, if he returned it could only be a good thing. Very few can compete with what he is capable of bringing to cinema.

The plot should revolve around another company developing Dinos also except they experiment with the DNA and create hybrids. Either mixing two diff Dinos or one mixed with any other modern day animal.

It'd be fun to see a shark mixed with a Pterodactyl lol

There is still the rival company Biosyn that hasn't been touched since the first film. They could delve into that.

Spielberg, along with nearly every other great director from that period, is getting a bit soft in his old age and doesn't have that edge any more in my opinion. Would love for him to prove me wrong and make a Jurassic Park with the impact of the 1st for future generations to experience. JP1 was one of my best ever theatre experiences.

I actually wouldnt mind the Spinosaurus making a return, I thought it was a nice change in the 3rd movie and they didnt really do enough with it. I wouldnt mind it having a re-match with the T-Rex either, but obviously Rex would have to win this time.

sounds like a movie you would find on SyFy. no thanks

They left enough between both books + vague details in the two films that, if fleshed out, would make a fairly good movie.

what could the story be now? Unless they go with a full blown mainland invasion, I'm not sure how else to come up with a way for people to get stranded. Unless it's done in some "found footage" way, with dumb teens/college-students making their way to one of the islands on some "extreme adventure" trip, then of course "stuff goes wrong"..

What if the story was about having to save the dinosaurs this time around? Perhaps some virus has infected the islands and is slowly killing them all and a team is sent to investigate and find a cure. Dunno, just throwing ideas out there.

Sounds like the upcoming film "The Dinosaur Project"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1907779/

Only old characters I want back are now adult Timmy&Lex,Rest can be cameos..Especially Grant&Malcolm.

I don't mind that, actually. Life found a way and all that jazz, but a lengthy period of time has passed. Something may have changed with the DNA strain, and they're dying off. Humans trying to help them out while the dinos do what dinos do.

That could be great and a good way to bring back old characters,I can totally see Timmy/Lex/Grant/Blond chick from the first film and Juliane Moore trying to help.

It could also bring up conflict between those who would want a second dinosaur extinction and those who want to prevent it. This time it's the dinosaurs that need saving. I really think something like that could work. Maybe it could be called Jurassic Park Extinction or something like that.

A post just got me thinking, what about an origin story? Seeing a younger John Hammond finding what he needs to build his park? The earlier repercussions of having dinosaurs without all of the high tech security measures? Seeing a dinosaur born for the first time? I don't know, just something about this notion seems highly fresh, original, and mostly- DANGEROUS.

It just seems like any sequel would just lead to a repeat of 2 & 3. However, when going back everything is primitive and there's a higher level of insecurity due to dealing with finding things out for the first time. It also can commentate on science now and scientists beginning to try to play god - a couple of them ARE actually trying to resurrect the Wooly Mammoth, Sabretooth Tiger, other extinct species, and etc.

So what do you guys think about John Hammond being the protagonist? Dealing with the original Jurassic Park?

I don't mind him as the main guy, and he is a cocky character, but if you have a full fledged prequel adventure where things go wrong big time, how much of a prick is he to invite the heroes of JP1 after all that? Let alone send Sarah and the others in Sorna? JP1 is supposed to be the 1st time where things go terribly wrong (I'm not counting the JP1 prologue for obvious reasons). He is essentially a villain if we get that movie.
