Developers of the popular Coaster Planet are making a spiritual successor to Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for PC, Playstation, and Xbox.

Day One purchase for me. Massive JP fan and this is giving me Operation Genesis vibes which is a game I loved and played the hell out of. Can't wait to see more and get some more details.

Heard about this earlier and I'm all for it. I'll definitely pick this up when it's released. Like Broseph, I played the hell out of Operation Genesis and if this is anything like it I'm game for it (no pun intended haha).

Definitely interested in this!

Fingers crossed that the Indominus Rex will be playable!

Details so far have revealed it will cover all 4 films, so I'd say Indominus will be one of the animals you can have in the park. If you can actually control any of the dinosaurs I don't know. This will also surely have some tie ins to Fallen Kingdom. Other details they gave recently said we will be able to have control of both Nublar and Sorna and even all the other islands of Las Cinco Muertes aka The Five Deaths. Matanceros, Muerta, Pena, Sorna, Nublar.

I think they said you can engineer new dinosaurs, so I'm guessing you'll be able to create the Indominus and all sorts of other silly **** too.

Looks good, looking forward to this!

Yep we can create hybrids of our own from the sounds of it, very cool I think. I myself probably wouldn't create anything too silly or out there. Just stuff that if mixed would be a bit more believable.

One thing I hope is that you'll be able to have every type of dinosaur in your park. The only thing I hated about Operation Genesis was that you couldn't have every dinosaur in the game in your park because there were a limited number of extraction sites. Anyway, I'm pumped for this one.

What is the gameplay likely to be like? I've never played the original.

Well, the game just released today and IGN (who'd been promoting this heavily for a couple months now) just came out and tore it a new one with its official review.

I remember watching clips of Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis when I was young and thinking how cool of a premise it was, especially the bit where you got to just watch the dinosaur A.I. interact with each other on a Site B nature reserve type of island that you can populate as you see fit. (Weren't there missions for dinosaur safaris and such? That looked like a lot of fun.) I figured a revamped version of it would be cool, even though I'm not a fan of a lot of the creature designs here -- you can tell which are franchise creatures and which ones are the new-school species based directly on commissioned paleoart for the Jurassic World website a few years back, and the contrast is jarring -- but after watching a couple play-throughs, reading some in-depth reviews, and hearing from online acquaintances who have the game now, it looks like Frontier dropped the ball on this one relative to its predecessor. A lot more tedious and restrictive from a park design perspective -- limited building areas, no terraforming, samey designs across the different islands, no nature reserve sandbox mode, etc. -- with bland/basic A.I., limited on-the-ground interactivity, and a weird faction-based aspect in which your three employee divisions will actively sabotage the park if you don't bend to their often insane whims by carrying out certain missions or tasks. Not that it isn't serviceable enough, but it certainly seems underwhelming.

(It's bad news when just the demo for an early access indie game like Prehistoric Kingdom seems to be beating the AAA-backed direct successor to the original dinosaur park simulator at its own schtick, but there you go.)

Been playing this non stop, loving it so much. Right up my alley as a massive fan of the JP franchise and dinosaurs in general. And I’ve alwasy enjoyed building sim games from Sim City to Roller Coaster Tycoon. And of course JP: Operation Genesis.

I think I'm doing pretty well on the first island. Have my park rating at 4 stars, and I've unlocked Isla Muerta and Isla Nublar.

Have Isla Mantanceros at 4 and a half stars. Have Isla Muerta at 4 stars. Have Nublar unlocked but going there yet. I wanna save Nublar and Sorna for last. I started Isla Tacano and it’s tough you start with an unfinished bankrupt park that is in the hole $900K. So much fun though.

Oh right, wasn’t expecting that. Sounds awesome and right up my street then.
