Jurassic World - - Part 11

I thought D'Onofrio was great as Hoskins. On paper the character is stupid as hell but his performance sells the hell out it. I don't see the mustache twirling aspect what so ever. I liked the kind of buddy-buddy Everyman schtick the character had. It made him feel more human and not just a one-dimensional villain.

It's my favorite of the year so far! You go in knowing what you're about to get, and they blow past all expectations. The success level of the park made it even more epic in my mind. I could just watch that for an hour and a half and be happy.

Oh yes. If someone filmed a tour of the park I'd easily watch it.

Hopefully this will be past F7 & TA by the end of this weekend. :D

Nice to see the $600m up.

^ Most definitely, now I'm just rubbing my hands together waiting for the $1.5 billion update.

This movie has had tremendous staying power, I'm still amazed by the massive success of this.

You and me both. It's hilarious that this movie was barely in the conversation about big money makers. Now look at it.

Was just updated to $1.513 via boxofficemojo so yep, it has done the deal. When they give the official official update, it will be past both. :D

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. But my mind is still numb from the BO return. I don't get it.

So how much more dose this movie have left in it with Japan still not having the movie yet? Is 1.6 billion a lock? Any changes at 2 billion at all?

Depends on its staying power in the coming weeks. I'd say if it continues to have good legs and has some truly amazing staying power it could make $2 billion still. At the least, I could see it bowing out around $1.7 but if it were to make it to $1.8+ I could see Universal allowing it to stay in theaters and go for the $2 billion gross.

Freakin sleeper BO hit. Never would've guessed it. Tbh though I didn't really enjoy this movie. I need to rewatch it with a clearer head since I was very, very tired when I saw it. But I left mostly thinking that it was predictable.

don't think it was really a sleeper, the pre-release tracking was strong for quite awhile leading up to the film

Should pass Avengers in the next day or two. Third place.

Really should be 2nd place since Titanic's original domestic box office run was $600m before the re-release in 2012. The $50m it made then shouldn't count.

It was, but not quite as insane as it turned out! The predictions a long way out were so far away (for everyone).

I do think it'll take that second place. As I said, if it comes as close to Titanic as I believe it will, rather than a re-release I could see Universal keeping JW in theaters & amping people up to get out and see it again to make it fully cross that threshold.

It's ahead of Furious worldwide now!

It's been ahead (officially) as of Saturday.

Okay guys I finally saw Jurassic World:

And I really wanna ask you the scene where Indominus Rex gets defeated, did anyone else think about Renny Harlin's Deep Blue Sea Samuel L. Jackson death scene?

Literally the face of Samuel L. Jackson explodes in my mind when I see this exact same scene happen in Jurassic World, it was glorious.

Haha that's interesting, didn't ever think of that 'til now but I guess they are quite similar when you break it down.
