Jurassic World

Am I the only one who legitimately enjoys JP3? :o

No, I love it definitely more than number 2. It isn't full of stupid like number 2 was. This time its easy to root for Dr. Grant because he doesnt want to be there, its impossible to root for Ian because he willing goes there in number 2. They know why everyone is here, to see the dinosaurs attacking people and the action scenes are awesome in it.

To be fair, Ian only went to try to get everyone else off the island. I enjoy all three JP movies, but for me it's JP, JP3, TLW.

My last post said I love JP3, I just think its a somewhat shallow film that still has really nice effects. I saw it when I was...was it 1999...so I was 10, and I loved it then.

I do hope JPIV brings back the suspense and an actually good story. The last two films were primarily running and screaming. Although I'm still down to see all kinds of dinosaurs causing all kinds of havoc.
Agreed.

It's JP,TLW and JP3 for me. JP3 is easily my least favourite.

I really do hope the use a hybrid of cg with animatronics, but honestly whats the most recent modern film you can think of that in recent years that has used animatronics.

Hellboy 2?

Where the wild things are?

Prometheus had some.

Zathura of all things had some great animatronics work which helped land Iron Man for Favreau.

I'm quite fond of the animatronics in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

The Potter films have some here and there.

So aside from Prometheus all of the other films are a lot longer ago. Keep in mind I favor practical effects to cgi any day I just hope they belive they can convince modern audiences of today with life size animatronic dinosaurs the way they did in 1993.

Jurassic Park 3D set a new IMAX record for non-exclusive release!

Now how would you rate the overall box office weekend for Jurassic Park 3D grossing over 18 million? Thin Universal is happy with it?

I've heard good from the fans but CNN said on their bottom scroll it was a disappointing oppening?

There are others, those just came to mind. The Potter films have only been over for 2 years. The newest Star Trek films use some animatronics as well.

Even though The Lost World gets hated on the most, I still like it WAAYY more than Jurassic Park 3. The only good things about JP 3 was the return of Alan Grant and the Raptors kinda/sorta looked like their real life counterparts (so I am told). I know I have said this before, but to me Jurassic Park 3 just felt like a lazy cash grab sequel. It just didn't do anything different from the previous films and the characters were more annoying than some of the ones in The Lost World particularly the kids parents ugh lol.

I agree about Grant, he was easily the best part of that movie. I actually liked the characters in JP3, it was just the story that sucked.

I'm just...unsure of who were dumber. In TLW, the only intelligent people are Ian and Roland. In JP3, Grant and Eric. None of the other characters annoy me, save Nick Van Owen, however.

Both movies were lackluster. TLW had the tension, while JP3 had a tone closer to the original. Fun as schlocky sequels though.

I think TLW is more in tone with the first one, though as you said, lackluster. I can actually see it as a continuation of the first story. The third one is too much of a rehash for me.

i thought the Lost World was a POS. actually i enjoyed JP3 more but that's not really saying much.

I liked jp3 more because their reason for going back onto the island was less stupid than The Lost World. It was still stupid but it was less stupid.

Jurassic Park 3 was awful. The Lost World was more bearable, but greatly overshadowed by the original.

Lol, they really are similar, tlw and jp3.

Put me in the camp that prefers The Lost World to JP3. Both have their flaws, but I'll judge them by the quality of the real stars of these movies, the dinosaurs. One thing you can't knock The Lost World for is that it has some great dino action. Between the stampede, the Compies, the raptors in the tall grass and 2 T-Rexes, it had a lot of cool moments. For what it's worth, the CGI in this one is actually more impressive than the first film (as it should be, it came out four years later) and it probably would have won the visual effects Oscar that year if not for Titanic. As for the characters, Ian Malcolm was neutered in this one compared to the first, but Goldblum still makes it work. Plus, Roland is a badass. Yes, there are annoying characters in this (like the daughter, Nick, and Hammond's nephew), but nothing compares to how annoying the Kirbys are in JP3. God, I wanted them to get eaten. Tea Leoni screamed more than Lex did in the first film. And I've voiced my opinion on how I hated what they did with the T-Rex in III, but I don't really hate the Spinosaurus. I just don't think it's a suitable replacement for the Rex, and if it shows up in Jurassic Park IV, I hope it's nothing more than a brief appearance. I did like the addition of the Pteranodons. The raptors were okay, but I feel like they made them a bit too smart. And the CGI was not up to par. The dinosaur that smelled Grant and the Kirbys as they were going through the Spinosaur crap looked like it was straight out of Disney's "Dinosaur".

I think one of the things that has to be done in order for Jurassic Park IV to be taken more seriously is that nobody who's gone to either island in the past two movies can return to the island. It was enough of a stretch to get Malcolm and Grant to go back for the sequels. I'm open to cameos, just as long as they stay off the island. Nobody would believe that they would go back for more, willingly or unwillingly.

Its a tough one... As unbelievable as it is.... An entire new cast with no prior appearances doesn't really sound that great either. Its a tough one.

There just needs to be a seriously logical reason this time

Agreed. When I saw it at the cinemas I found it very flat and going through the motions. Like they made it for just something to do. I was feeling that well before the Spino attacked the fuselage. The opening parasailing thing felt off for some reason.

It's Don Davis' horrible rendering of the theme. If it was any more TV-level, it'd be Dinotopia. That goes for the entire movie.
