Just got a turtle!

Yeah I just translated Rorschachs line "The world Will look up and shout save us, and I will whisper no" into japanese

If I could read Japanese..........oh well.

I let the little guy go near a stream realizing he'd probably live long in the wild. :yay:

You...you're not serious, are you? Where do you live? Do you know whether box turtles naturally occur in your area?

Do you have any idea what **** like that does to local ecosystems? I'm literally in disbelief. Honestly. If I were standing next to you, I'd slap you. I would slap the living Christ out of you.

I don't know about you guys, but I've got enough to worry about already without having to concern myself with giant turtles. :cmad:

They tend to deal with your standard giant leeches/insects well enough, but god help you if you're a lettuce farmer.

Got this off the net :D

There are few foods that should be avoided for turtles:

1.) Reptiles do not utilize milk products at any stage of their lives, and lack the enzymes to break down lactose. So do not feed cheese, yogurt, or other dairy products to your turtles.

2.) Canned and other processed foods often are very high in salt and other preservatives. The effects of these things are not fully known, but they would not be part of a natural diet. It would be prudent to limit their use.

3.) Avoid candy, chocolates, breads, and any other refined sugars and flours, or other highly processed food-like products.

4.) Although some turtles are known to eat poisonous plants in the wild, the specifics of that practice are not well studied. It is probably wisest to avoid the use of toxic plants in their habitats (i.e. poison ivy, rhubarb plants, avocado plants, etc.)

Read the rest of the thread. The OP let the turtle go, so he's now probably dead anyway.

:(

Well... at least there's one less hungry raccoon out there somewhere.

My girlfriend got me a turtle...it lasted 2 months and a day.

RIP, McLovin :(

if you do not name him mr turtle then you will fail at life

edit: after reading the entire thread i stand by first point you will and have failed at life

A couple months ago I woke up and went outside of my house to check the mail and what do I see? This huge ass turtle walking around my front little pond. I measured him and he was like 11 inches long. He fell into out little gated pond thing and was stuck there. I let him be, and later when I was leaving for something I saw he wasn't there anymore. Little guy got out somehow.

And just recently, my sister got a really really small tiny turtle.
