Okay, I realize that Kal Penn is by no means an "A-list" actor... it might be pushing it to say that he is even B or C list, but I mean, he is fairly recognizable because of Harold and Kumar... but did he even have LINES in this movie? I can't even remember him SPEAKING or doing anything significant whatsoever except dropping the crystal fraction in the water. I guess I'm just wondering, why bother getting a known actor for that part? He wasn't in it anymore than Luthor's other 3 goons... why not just get a complete no-name?

Kal Penn really didn't have much to do in the movie besides looking scared under the model of the city....lol.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. I would have loved to see one of those big New Krypton crystal tower things tear out of the ground beneath him and nail him right in the balls. That would have been hilarious.

if i had a chance to be the person who tells Clark that Perry White needs to see him, i would've gladly played the roll even if i were a succesful actor. i'm sure he was just glad enough to have a part in the movie at all...

...it's not like he's starred in better movies, hehe.

I bet you had that he had some lines in the original cut. Mind you, there was a subplot in the novel in which Penn was involved with the 'fake article' of the discovery of Krypton. Obviously, that was either cut out or was never shot.

Why would Penn be desperate? Think about it: If you had a chance to work on SUPERMAN, you would do it no matter what.

Well, yeah, that is true. I would have done literally ANYTHING to be a part of this movie too. But I guess I just thought he would have been a little more significant that Luthor's other thugs. But I think the guy with the clown face on the back of his head was more memorable.

"What do you want us to do?"
- Kal Penn

Yeah, if you were a 20 something actor, and given the chance to be in SUPERMAN! would you turn it down? He's probably a fan of Superman and wanted the role no matter what. Just to be in the legacy.

it seemed more like Kal Penn is a huge fan of Superman and would have taken any role just so long as he could be in the movie....at least...that's my opinion...?

He is not a huge actor, and probably even if he does like Superman, needs a paycheck.

At least Penn can claim he had a chance to kick the crap outa Supes while the guy was down.

He's part of a Superman movie. And got paid for it. That was his incentive haha.

LOL....I thought people didn't want him to talk.....

Actually, he's Spider-man fan. He grew up on MARVEL comics, he said so in a Wizard interview.

He is starring Van Wilder Part 2: The Adventures of the Foreign Kid. That should answer your question.

God....to think they're trying to make a Van Wilder movie.....without the mother****in' Van Wilder, Ryan "The Flash" Reynolds.

seriously . . . he's in Superman; it's on his resume

I actually liked that he had no lines that I can recall, and his expressions were priceless! He didn't need any lines w/ those faces . . .

I still say the movie would've been ten times better if he ran up to Luthor and said in his Van Wilder accent "Mr.Lex Luthor sir...we have a problem" ;)

If he'd had tried to curse to Luthor the way he did to Van Wiilder would have been priceless.....although it would have been cut for adult content.

Bingo!

I loved Penn's evil smile at Lex, when he figured out for himself Lex's evil plot.

Not to mention that he was a friend of Brandon even before the Routh was cast as Supes.

he shoulda been the pimp in STM, but returning and recast for SR

I love that pimp form STM. Sigh....it's hard enough out here for a pimp, much less to get work like that.

He should've been all, "Lex, I know you want to create this whole New Krypton thing, but in the next hour or so I expect us both to be blitzed out of our skulls."
