I'm curious to know why anyone should be getting on her to stop.

This is one of those things which fall into "personal liberty". It's not illegal, there's not even any ethical reasons why she should stop.

It's just because it contradicts the social norm. No one really has any right to tell her to stop generally, unless say she's doing it in a restaurant or similar private place and the proprietor reserves the right to refuse service and specifically tells her it's something they won't allow.
