Kevin Feige Adds Marvel Chief Creative Officer Title; He’ll Oversee All Creative & Story Initiatives

Jesus....to think nineteen years ago Feige was nothing more than just a lowly associate producer on the first X-Men film.

How very far he has come since those days.

So, what does this mean in practical terms? I’m assuming (hopefully correctly) that the film and TV divide is now gone- anything else in terms of us as fans?

Feige will oversee the movies, shows and cartoons, so yes, the divide would seem to be gone.

Only thing is shows like Cloak and Dagger and Runaways might be cancelled. I'm not sure about Helstrom and other shows in development.

This is excellent news. I figured that not long after the acquisition of Fox, there would be a re-org and that the TV side would fall under Feige. Just hoping they are able to keep some of what has been done already, especially Cox, D'onofrio, and Bernthal.

Great news! Just a shame it didn't happen sooner then we wouldn't have to have this debate on whats canon and what's not. The whole spiderman deal should have made it pretty clear that if Its not produced by Feige it's not MCU.

Wonder what his plans for the comics are?

Hopefully they cancel alot of books that currently out. Give all books back original numbering. All books should be looked at as potential scripts and not judged by sales so they can have long runs. Give all MCU heroes a solo (almost like that already). Selfishly more X-MEN solos as well

And create a true Marvel Animated Cinematic Universe on Dis+

I find it amazing that Ike manages to stay on. He must have gotten a lifetime contract as part of the Disney buyout.

As for changes with this news? "It's all connected" will become more than just an easily disproven catch phrase. And the MCU will finally live up to what I hoped would happen back in 2013 with AOS, when it was announced that the TV show was operating in the same continuity as the films.

I'm guessing this will mean either stronger ties between the MCU and the existing Marvel Television shows - Runaways, Cloak & Dagger and the upcoming Helstrom - or cancellation within a year or two for all three.

And we could see a further diminishing of Marvel's publishing operations, with the focus on fewer books that are better suited for live action adaptations.

Does Daisy Johnson count as a popular character?

AoS characters will be an interesting case as the argument could be made that those characters could more easily transition into the movies or other Disney+ shows. The tone and previous content from the show would be easily accessible for fans of the movies if they wanted to revisit. For the most part the storylines were well received and the show does have a devoted fan base.

BYE IKE PERLMUTER! :hehe:

Bring back Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter & Vincent D'Onofrio. Please and thank you.

I hope Loeb gets replaced eventually. I primarily blame him for the Inhumans debacle.

Kevin Feige will be CEO of Disney within 10-15 years. Mark my words!

I wish fans would stop throwing this ridiculous notion around. Running a company like Marvel Studios is vastly different from running a whole enterprise like Disney. Disney are better of keeping him where he shines in the movie division. If anything they are setting him up to succeed Alan Horn. That way he can have a hand in all their key franchises Star Wars included.

Hope they're not spreading him to thin.

One interesting aspect of the arrangement is that Marvel Entertainment is staying intact. I assumed that the company would be broken up after Marvel Studios spun off, with publishing, TV and licensing moving over to other parts of the Disney empire as well. I'm surprised Kevin Feige would end up being the one to keep the company together.

I am cool if they ''reboot'' Iron Fist but keep the other Defenders in tact

Even if they did press the reboot button on DD— Charlie Cox could easily play a new version of Matt Murdock in the MCU much like JK Simmons played another version of Jonah Jameson.
