I'm only bumping this thread because of another post from the MCU page about Rob Liefeld

He also says that Sony and Marvel are thinking of putting Spidey in Avengers 3 due to TASM2s lackluster box office results/Sonys financial problems. I've met Liefeld, and read his comments when it comes to movies. He may be a terrible artist, and jerk at times but he does have an insight into the comic movie industry. In all honesty if you look at this from a strictly buisness perspective it makes total sense. Its like Marvel is playing the Game of Thrones. (Marciel)

I really hope that won't happen. Green Goblin has been destroyed in this series and I want a take on Green Goblin that is right. That requires another reboot, in particular the rights to go back to Marvel Studios who can start all over with their own version.

I disagree. I liked the 5 minutes of Goblin we got in ASM2. No to a reboot.

Nolan was done. They were starting the DCCU and wanted Batman in the next Superman film. Batman in SvB looks completely different from Nolan's take. You couldn't even make the reboot series different from Raimi.

Well obviously there's gonna be more of goblin in asm3.

And honestly, I find a lot of people are divided upon the actual batman from the nolan series because of the voice. everything else about it though is shining pretty much.

I would like that just as much as the next guy, but what would Marvel Studios do with Spider-man if they rebooted it? They couldn't exactly use Lizard anytime soon, and both Raimi and Webb have used most of the interesting ideas with the Osborns

what bothers you about the asm series?

Honestly, it's more TASM 2 and the direction they're taking that bothers me. I actually really enjoyed TASM 1 and thought it was a needed fresh take on Spider-Man. But they completely ruined that with TASM 2 IMO: the sudden swift in tone, making Harry Green Goblin, tossing in every name they can come up with without any character development, bad writing etc. I thought TASM 2 was so bad that it's even hard to Watch TASM 1 now, knowing what's next.

Also, even though I really like TASM1, Lizard wasn't used to his potential at all and deserves better.

Let Spider-Man rest a few years. Start either a film series or a TV series that focuses more on crime and stuff with villains like Osborn, Kingping etc., and Osborn trying to take over the criminal world in the first two films.

Because when you take into account what the total bill of the movie was, along with marketing, and figure out how much they're actually keeping in their pocket of that 700M... The numbers get really tight. They figured it'd have to be around 800M to be profitable. They don't just pocket 700M, a portion of that goes to the theatres and things like that.

well double the budget and add the marking costs, they pretty much broken even around 600 mill

they have made a small profit, just maybe not around the 100 mark

they have not lost any money

Movie theaters get a cut of the earnings that theater makes.

If they spent 600 mill then they failed.

you just have to let people moan, and moan again when TASM3 Starts production
